09 328xi negotiation help plz!
Buddies,
I am new to this forum but let me say "thank you" first for so much useful info! I used the wholesale invoice to email attack dealers. Here's one guy's response: "It looks like you have included a wholesale calculation in the e-mail. You've definitely done your research, but the numbers are slightly off. Wholesale base price is $32,750, not $32,475. You did include destination, but advertising and training of $280 is not listed. So my invoice cost is actually $35,935. Once the $1840 credit is taken into consider, my break-even cost is $34,095. I then have to spend about $350 getting the car ready to be sold, so that brings me to $34,445. I'm sure you can understand that I would need to make a marginal profit and at an offer of $33540 that will not happen. If you have some flexibility I'm sure we can put together a fair deal. " My questions are: 1. Is the base model invoice $32475 or $32750? 2. Does he have to spend $350 to prepare the car for sale? 3. I assume $180 training & $100 advertising should be OK. Am I correct? 4. After we settle down on the price, we'd like to use BMW 1.9% finance. We have almost 800 credit score and 6-digit W2 income. Are there some tricks to screw us in the loan application? Thanks in advance! Flyingpig in Chicago |

Hey Flyingpig, welcome!
The only thing worth arguing over is the $350 prep fee. Ask what's included in that and if it can be dropped. My guess is that all dealers treat this differently. The cars do need to be prepped (cleaned, finishing touches, some programming) though, so it makes sense. But I agree with NoKids above. Money is money, but we're not talking a huge amount here. Doesn't sound like he's trying to screw you. With your income and credit, getting the best finance rate won't be a problem.
