2009 335i Coupe...good deal or not?

Hey guys, new to these forums. I'm a bit of a novice compared to all of you, but I still have a passion for BMWs that I hope to expand on. My current car--an 03 325i--is rather outdated and as much as I love it, it's time to upgrade.

That said, I was just quoted by a Southern California dealer for a new 2009 335i Coupe. Here's what he told me...

Features:
-Space Gray Metallic
-Black Dakota Leather
-Steptronic Automatic Transmission
-Premium Package
-Sport Package
-Navigation
-19" Wheels
-Heated front seats
-Ipod

MSRP: $53,200
Internet Sales Price: $50,020

Lease Offer: 36 months, $2,500 total due, $575 monthly before taxes.

Ironically, he said that the "335i Sedans are not very attractive right now" for the price range I was willing to go up to...whatever that means. What do you all think?

sounds good but. the 335i burns more gas than the sedans depends how you drive it. also coupe is alil bit more on insurance because,coupe are consider sports car. and sedan is like a family car and such. my parents got me my first car this year its been about 4-5 monthes. an 09' bmw 335i coupe. its alpine white with red/black coral leather and automatic and shipping also tax cost us 49650. but its up to you buddy this is my only 2 cents(:

I don't drive more than 10k a year, so I don't need to worry about anything extra there.

Think the 09 coupe deal is so much better because it's having it's mid-model facelift? Although from what I've seen, I prefer the 09 to the 10 anyway...

Either way. Seems like a good deal?

Still sounds like a fair deal to me. About $1000 of that $2500 is probably dealer fees, registration, etc. so you're probably only putting ~$1500 toward the actual down payment (which is good).

Car sounds great too, all the right stuff.

You shouldn't be looking at $$$s off MSRP to tell if it's a good price. You should be looking at $$$s over/under dealer cost for base car and options.

That's within a few hundred dollars of what I payed for my 09 E92 back in May. Only difference is I have MT not step. Since 2010s are already being made and you are looking at an 09 on the lot, I think you should be able to get a better deal.

Invoice on the car your looking at is probably around 48k. You might be able to get them down another 1-1.5k. worth a try.

+1 - I think you can do better given the invoice price and the fact that 10's are coming out soon and they need to move these. Plus including tax will make that payment even less attractive.

I forgot to add the caveat that this is an internet quote... all contact was pretty much done via e-mail, so there was no in-person negotiating. I'm sure that can greatly influence things.

How would you guys go about the negotiating for the 2009, if I may ask? Do I mention that not only are the 2010's coming, but that it'll be undergoing a facelift, thereby reinforcing the fact that I should be given a lower price?

Just an update. I was able to negotiate with another dealership via phone for a quote on a sister car, but black on black (my preference over current colors). $2250 down, $558 a month.

Gonna try my best at another place...see how far I can force the "beat this offer" down their throat before it's too late.

I found the sedan to be more to insure than the coupe.

An update:

A dealership offered me a 328i, MSRP 46.6k, with Steptronic, Nav, Premium, Sport, iPod... they wanted $2500 down, $578 a month after taxes...on a much lesser car.

I feel like throwing my previous quote back at them and say "How about we work more around this, then offer me a 335i Coupe and a better quote on a 328i."

Also find out what taxes are, I'm pretty sure in CA they're pretty hefty which means that payments easily over $600.

The monthly payment on the 53.2k MSRP 335i Coupe would be $603 a month. Versus a 46.6k MSRP 328i which would be $578 a month. For 25 bucks a month--basically three drinks at a bar a month--I'm getting a much better car.

Yep, and it's actually $2250 now. I haven't even visited the dealership that sold me my E46, so I could probably get an even better deal?
