had sum probs inst the ipod retro kit today. after following the ins. perferctly i found the wiring harness & diagram w the kit i got isnt the one i need. can sum one please clear up a few things for me! sure its been said before. just 2 lazy to look 4 it!

i have kit 65-110-0-403-650. parts guy said this was the one i needed, not to sure if it is cause i see a different one on here now.instructions that were printed from here a month earlier say they are for retro kit 65-41-0-412-881. but now i see that the diy inst changed from the one i had originaly gotten on here to the one thats up now. the one that s up now has more wires to go into the harness and also has new steering wheel controls! wtf? wut could be diff from the ones that are in the wheel now?

i had just four wires to hook up on my kit. brown, red, and two green f. optic cables !

ne input would be greatly appreciated.

ohh. i didnt have the car flashed before the instal either. but from wut ive heard on here, people have installed theirs on fri and went to dealer on monday to remap the comp!

Clearly you have no idea what you are doing if you believe that the DIY instructions you posted relate to anything you might want to do.

You already admit you didn´t follow the instructions, the first step of which is to flash the car.

I´m sure BMW puts those instructions there to waste time.

and who said nething bout not following the instructions? if u would have looked one of the first sentences i said was "i followed the instructions pefectly".

I think Jean is quite correct here. It says quite clearly that the instructions you linked to are only valid for cars with SA 249, SA 662 without SA 633, SA 644, and SA 677.

i understand wut ur sayin ,but i have all the necessary requirements for the original kit i got to work! and its not! the problem im havin is that after i hook up the harness, my bluetooth, volume and sos light go haywire. when i take it out and put it back everything is fine! is it possible the factory mislabled the package?

earlier on in the month, or it may have been back in late aug sum hooked theres up on the weekend and then the followin week got around to flashin the car. they didnt seem to have neprobs w leaving their s hooked up. no "dead-air" radio, bluetooth, or sos issues!

puzzled and stumped....

I don´t know who this ,,sum`` is or whether he did install the kit or not but Jean also correctly pointed out you didn´t follow the instructions, which clearly state to flash the car first (before you do anything else). There really is no point in trouble shooting a failed installation when you don´t start at the beginning.

Regarding the package, I´m not sure what you mean. How might it be mislabeled?

Ja, I am curious also about that.

Also, depending on what version PROGMAN you are on, the iPod Interface may work but may not work 100% correctly. So knowing what version - which I asked yesterday - would be helpful.
