Diverter Valve? came off and loud sound.
I had a tune on my car for 40k miles and just changed my tune from JB3 to Procede.
I had no problems so far with DV or those pipings next to the intake came out today. Maybe its the aggressive map i was using or maybe just worn? Car started making whistle noise and was very loud. I thought i broke something. Than i came home drove 30 miles slowly and noticed one of the pipings on the DV? was loose came out. So i just pushed it in and it CLICKED and doesnt come off now. Does anyone know why this came off and should i be concerned? I kinda drove with that off for about 30 miles just now but trying to keep it slow. After i put back the DV car is normal again. Any help would be nice. Thank you. |

Nothing to worry about this happens alot to people running high boost maps with stock dv's just upgrade them or wait until they pop off and pull over and fix em.

The clicking noise indicates that the clips on the grey ring have grabbed the machined groves on the diverter valve, but if the ring rotates a little over time it can end up in the "release" position where the clips no longer line up with the machined indentations on the base of the valve. So basically there is nothing holding onto the diverter valve at that point I think the grey lock rings have to be in a fully counter-clockwise position to be fully locked in place so you should visually inspect them to make sure. Just clicking in place does not ensure that the grey lock ring is secured from rotating. Easy enough to check visually every once in a while. I had a difficult time getting mine off for the last dealer visit until I realized that you have to rotate those rings around sometimes to find the right spot where the clips no longer contact the machined groove. Sounds like yours may have rotated over time....probably due to boost pressure cycles, engine vibration and perhaps not having the ring in a fully counterclockwise position. Once you have the diverter valve locked in....try holding it in place with one hand while you turn the grey ring fully counterclockwise with your other hand. They tend to both want to rotate together. |

Mine popped off STOCK.
(Although this was right after getting my AC fixed for the second time... so it was just a mechanic snafu.) Just put em back on. -scheherazade |
