If this is a good deal then why are they only charging $16.80 at the dealer for the real (thick) leather ones. Or are those totally different?
BillLee: some people like me got a cover because I carry no other keys in my pocket. And I didn't want the fob scratched up by other stuff.

a gap with supplied metal post (when use without supplied key ring, clip and strap):
i elected to use the shorter post (from the older supplied bmw key fob - from my '06 330i) allows the elimination of the gap without the ring, clip, etc... shown as supplied:
