Question Cigarrete Lighter Question

Im just curious on my E90 the cigarrete lights have no power at all when the car is not running. However on my previous BMW's this was not the case. I Just wanted to know if this goes for everyone or if there is just something wrong with it. Because it gives power only when the engine is on... anyways any feedback would be appreciated.

Nope, they only have power when the car is turned on. I don't think they even have power in accessory mode, but I'm not sure about that.

All cigarette lighters and aux power sockets are now switched power for any of BMW's MOST equipped vehicles.

Might be that you could press the ignition button in once WITHOUT the foot on the brake to turn on aux power mode.

You can... and that works... but it quickly kills the battery ... as I found out.

You can use the power outlet when you just turned off the engine but I think the power will be cut off in about 15 minutes after that (or maybe less). I used to charge my cell phone in the car and sometimes left it when it's not full yet. So yeah, can't do that on a E90 I guess.
