Hi All,

I am picking my BLACK 2005 330i SE up from the dealers in a couple of days . The first thing I am going to do is get the rear & back windows tinted, but I've got some questions...

1 - I know there are issues with some tints fitting properly on some BMW's around the edges of the window where the dot matrix is? How much dot matrix is there on the E90 - is this an issue on this car?

2 - I've looked at lots of pictures (mainly from USA) of different tints. Has anybody got a pic of a BLACK E90, with 35% film on the rear only?

3 - Not sure how the "rear only" tint will look with the chrome surround found on the SE, any pics would help me make my mind up whether to de-chrome, or leave as is ?

Thanks for that Craig - looks darker than I expected... have you had any issues with the tints around the dot matrix ?

That's the perfect amount of tint but you probably don't know how much it is right?

Nothing, nadda, zip, nowt,zilch, zero, sod all .......

I'm afraid yor not alowd anything froward of the 'B' pillar anylonger.
30% was ok, but, as all factory glass now comes with a slight tint as std - between 25% and 28% ANYTHING you add to that will place you in the £30 fine and remove them zone.

I work for loads of Policemen/women and they all say they just can't be bothered to stop a car for its tinted windows

one of the sargent's even has a pimped golf with blacked out windows and a cooper s convertable.

Really......i got a fine in Skegness acouple of months ago in my golf fo rthe tint on the windows.

I nipped to a public convenience, came out to find a sargent and a regular copper standing at my car next to there unmarked Subaru armed with a light meter

My windows weren't very dark at all




....isn't stopping me having the fronts done on this car tbh

am not sure what mine are no. I would suggest they are 35% as its an x business car and was already fitted when I got it ???

This is a bit of an old one I think craigs got the best setup. I will be getting mine done like that at some point.

Really sorry I don't know, it was like this when I bought the car. The front windows are glass tint, and the rears, I really don't know.

I do know my e90 forum sticker, does not show through at all though ...lol

If you go to your local tint place you will be able to tell from their demo car Thats what I did when I got a quote.

I think the price was £100 rear window and then £40 side windows.

Finally getting my tints done tomorrow - still not sure what percentage to get yet...

Prob 35% rear only, or 50% front and 20% rear - Don't want it too dark coz I got black interior and black car. If anybody has suggestions or pics then please post them now.

This is 17% rear and 80% front (The stock glass is 75 or so meaning about 50-55% at the front allowed through all together)
