New Sticky for Logic 7 Upgrades?
Hello all,
I'm new here but an old hand at ICE. Just bought a E90 Logic 7/ Nav. After doing several searches it occurred to me that a set of basic info to help plan audio upgrades would be really useful, specifically: -Anyone have a schematic in English? Maybe someone with Vizio could be a hero and prepare one? -It appears that the L7 head unit sends an unprocessed digital signal via toslink/optical to amp, that the amplifiers are true digital (chip-based gain) and contain DSP to compensate for deficiencies in drivers and vehicle acoustics. The HiFi HU's output is line level analog, by contrast. Correct? -There are conflicting accounts of dimensions of aftermarket drivers that fit stock locations. Some seem to assume substantial modification. -Alternative (supplemental) subwoofer installs/configurations with pictures? -Major iPod integration alternatives with costs and compromises? Recognizing the many permutations (sedan/coupe/convert, Nav/non, Logic 7/base/HiFi) I think it would have to be left to the user to figure out what is or is not applicable to their vehicle, but a collection of basic info up front could be really useful to a lot of owners. For $30 get one from bmwtechinfo.com (needs Explorer).
It is not Toslink, it is MOST, and in the next month or so there may be a gateway/DAC available, but at present there doesn't seem to be. I agree that non-BSW stickys here are sparse, but this info is present. |
