put a 335 turbo on a 328?
So I have a 2008 e90 328, I have recently found a 335i exhaust manifold and turbos. I have a few small mods currently and have some good power from my n/a engine. But there are a few people who have been releasing turbo upgrades, new tunes/ maps for the turbo e90. My question is how hard would it be to put the turbo manifold that I have found with ether upgraded turbos or new higher capacity stock turbos? Im positive that I will have to get the ecu from the 335, and will get it reflashed to get more hp, but what other problems would I run into? The room has to be adequate since they are basically the same car, but the 335 has different style intake, compression, exhaust? Or could I simply install the turbos, plumb them and get a stock 335 ecu and make some improved power? Any help or comments would be useful. I initially wanted either a v10 or turbo m3 motor swap (the hpf turbo motor makes up to 650 rwhp) but have realized that my motor makes great power and have ran against a few 335's and they didnt have shit! Ive also ran with an evo to 140 then that old governor kicked in but I had him! I figure with a modded straight 6 with race gas and meth could easily get around 500-600hp and want to find the best solution to get here.

The Chrysler Turbo Encabulator would be a far better mod. Here's the dealer master tech training video:

Yeah man, a low 13 second N/A 328i. You must have the rare special edition 328i. I think you should stick with that motor you have in it.

Think the direct injection and tuning might be quite a challenge...you can't just slap on a 335 ECU and hope for an easy fix. About the only those engines have in common is the displacement.

haha ha that chrysler turbo encabulator video is flipping halarious! But seriously would it be easier/cheaper to buy a horsepower freaks turbo m3 motor and slap it in which is proven massive power, or to mod my current motor? If I put my rpi intakes and rims on a 335 it would definately smoke my current 328 but my car is looking ill and minus coil overs, engine upgrades, and massive weight reduction my car is exactly how I want it fast and a sleeper!

Preserved for posterity. If you could afford to do the M5/6 or HPF engine swap why not just trade in for a 335 and upgrade it or maybe a 911 turbo since you are talking large sums of money with either of those ventures. |

I want to stay with BMW! No porsche 997, no Mercedes E55 which are two of my favorite cars. The 5.5L stroker from Dinan is 40K, the stage 3 turbo setup for the old m3 motor is 30K. These are two very serious possibilities which could happen in the next year or two. I know at least one hartge h50's are in the US as well.

The compression in the N52 is much higher than the N54. That is just one of the many things that's different.
If all you did was add the turbos, and change the ECU there would be a recipe for disaster.

Either the two guys with the 335's didnt know how to drive or those twin mini turbs that you guys spent 7000 on suck. If my car really improved with rims and intake scoops then I might just have to stay n/a and trick the motor out as much as possible with headwork, and fuel supply, exhaust, full carbon fiber intake, drivetrain weight, and vehicle weight. How much would the car improve with taking the cats or resinator cat in the back of the car off? Have also ran with an E46 m3 and while I was on his ass at full throttle I could smell the exhaust and raw gas out of the exhaust, How much would our motors benefit with ITB?

You ran with a 335i and your only mods are scoops and rims haha. Either those guys really wasn't racing you or you didn't take your pills this morning. Let me take that back, but seriously are you for real, you realize its only because the drivers either suck or wasn't even racing you and if you know this then why are you comparing?
