WAXING?

If you only waxed your car twice a year (Sept. and March) which wax would you use and why?

I won't wax it. I'll seal it with Zaino. They're one of the longest lasting paint protection but relatively hard to use.

P21s

the only thing is i would wax it at least 4 times a year as this wax will last only about 3 months (my bmw is garaged so that helps). it wont last as long as zaino but no way in hell would i do all the work that zaino requires plus i'm not keeping the car forever. the P21s is definitely the easiest wax i have ever used with great results so i highly recomend it. in between waxing i use spray on wax every time i wash, this system works for me.

Yes, it is exactly the same and it is half the price

And it is also available locally at harley davidson dealers. No online ordering ftw.

FWIW, you might want to wax a bit more often with P21S; even garaged it tends to only last a month at most. S100 is identical, $20 at a harley dealership (or from topoftheline.com).

To answer the OP; there are only 3-4 waxes under $100 that will consistently last over 4 months. I like waxes personally, but you're going to need to wax more often to maintain proper protection. If you do not want to wax as often I would recommend a polymer sealant. I will be recieving my sparkling graphite 335i in December and will be using Jeffs Werkstatt Prime and Jeffs Werkstatt Acrylic Jett on it, this will last 6 months easily, and imo, looks great on dark metallic colors. Other options are Zaino Z5pro/Z2pro, Duraglos 105/111, Klass HGSG, Poorboys EX-P, Menzerna FMJ (and many others). Cheers.

Edit to add: Zaino is not hard to use. I am not sure where that myth comes from. Likely the fact that Sal sends it out with instructions on how to prep the car.

Wow only twice a year....

I just put on my winter coat of Klasse AIO and SG yesterday. Even with my Klasse coat, I waxed like every 3-weeks with P21S.

Collinite 854 IW, found at advanve Auto in the marine section for about $13, very long lasting for a wax. (BTW, I bought some S100 last week for $14.95 at a local bike shop.
Honestly, the best option is to wax more often. If you use a synthetic like Duragloss 105 you can boost with their aquawax spray wax in about 10 minutes after every wash. You can then apply the 105 twice a year.

Well, I went to my Harley dealer.

I'm there all the time any way.

Got S100 for $15.95.

I also picked up 3 Harley tee shirts ($24.95 each ).

I came home after a 75 mile motorcycle ride and washed the car real good.

Tomorrow I will wax it and let you guys know what I think of it.

The instructions said to apply and remove in the direction of the wind (back and forth).

That way you will avoid swirl marks.

Do you guys do it back and forth?

OK, like I said; I washed my car real good and about 2 this morning ONE rain cloud came over for less than 2 minutes (the dot closest to the B in Baltimore in Maryland just over the line).

So what should I do now?

Rewash it?

Just rinse it off?

Let it dry and just wax it?

This was going to be the first car I waxed in 30 years.

No wonder it rained.

Ideally rewash it of course. But do you have the time and energy? I thought you were only looking forward to 2 waxes per year. I personally use Poorboys Waterless Spray and Wipe for not too heavy dirt and it especially works great for after rain. Then I follow with Poorboys EXP. The next day if I have the time and energy, I apply another coat of EXP or wax it with P21S.

I do this almost every week Sat and Sun. Guess what, no water will ever form a spot on the paint. Not even relatively hard water.

P21S doesn't last very long though. Where I live, it lasts about 2 weeks. That's why I make sure I have EXP as the base coat.

Picus, my experience, Zaino is very hard to remove. I always needed to rub harder and use Z6. Just ain't for me. But it definitely reflects light well.

Then it hasn't hazed completely. You are trying to wipe it off too soon. I barely use any pressure when I remove Zaino.

Shim, I let it sit for over 1 hour and it's still hard to remove. The longer I wait, the harder it is to remove. How long do you usually wait it to haze completely?

Totally agree, Zaino is easy to use, it just requires multiple steps to get the most out of the product line.

Meruyailir, are you doing it in the sun? It dries way too hard if you do it in the sun. I leave it on about 45 mins for full haze as long as the humidity isn't very high and it just wipes right of with much less effort than buffing a hazed carnuba wax.
