I just got done installing my JB3 1.4 and set it to map 5. I have 93 octane, steptronic auto, 09 335xi sedan. The car is stock otherwise.

How long does it take to learn the new map? I only drive it a handful of miles a day.

I did some pre JB3 runs using dynolicious and was kinda disappointed when launching as it seemed to take a second for the car to respond when I mash the gas. I had it in sport mode and DTC off. I ended up doing 0-60 in 5.9-6.0 seconds . Is this the lag fix issue that is addressed with maps 3 and 5?

Are you pressing down on the brake pedal, and keeping the RPM's a round 1800-2000RPM?

You're supposed to keep the RPM's around 1800-2000RPM, then let go of the brake pedal and step down on the gas at the same time.

I wouldn't rely on the iphone app to see if you gained performance man!

Map5 sounds like a good map for you.

Yeah, all I was doing was going from holding the brake down to romping on the gas when the light turned green. No brake and gas to 1800rpm's at the same time. Is there a post that goes over this technique, because I've been searching and haven't found anything

Problem is that I don't know the technique. In my G37 it was stick so rev up to 2500rpm and feather of the clutch quickly for a decent launch. For the T/A, it was just romping on the gas and hope the back wheels hook. When I pull that with the 335xi, the car hesitates for a second then starts to deliver.

I want to record the differences before and after mods which I believe this to be a decent method. No two dyno's are the same so expecting the iphone app to be perfect is to expect a dyno to be perfect. Even then, the dynolicious app has shown to be decently accurate. However I do know that there is something wrong with the way I'm launching as I can feel it very slow to 60, but I'm probably doing something wrong hence the first guy saying rev to 1800-2000rpm while breaking.

i used the iphone app, its good but not that good. Wouldnt base any performance measure off of it really.
Find a friend to race before and after, that is basically the best real world result.

Map 2-5. Try out map3 and see how you like it and then go up to map 4/5. Like others have mentioned, FMIC and DPs and up to map 6/7

How are you running map 5 in CA (unless you are filling up with some race gas)?

Out of the 4 runs I had the numbers were pretty consistent. I'd expect in a couple days once I drive around with map5 for a while I'll try it again to see what the differences are and if I can do 4 rather consistent runs.

I've found a couple threads on brake boosting so I'm going to give it a shot to try it out. I read something about completely disabling DTC by holding the DTC button down for a couple seconds. Whats the difference between just tapping it and holding it down for a few?

i'm running 91 octane but can seems to respond better to map 5 right now especially with this nice weather we have. but once it gets hot again i'll be switching back down to map 3.
