Too Warm, Winter Tires?
So we're having a random heatwave it seems (It's been consistently in the 40's for a while, dipping to the 30's at night), and for the next few days it's going to be in the high 50's to 60's. At what warmer temperature is it bad to drive with Blizzaks?

In terms of hurting the tire, it's fine. You can run snows in the summer if you wanted to. It's not ideal in terms of performance, but don't worry about it. We have a similar wave of warmer air in New England for this upcoming week.

Don't worry about a few days of warm weather. It's impossible to avoid some warm days when your winter tires are on; it's just how it goes. I try to drive extra gentle when it gets warm.

I haven't put my continental winters on yet, they told me when average daytime temps are 45 or lower. Here in the PacNW we've still been hitting 50's in the daytime, although today was a balmy 44!

I should have waited until next week, but there definitely a few days where it was in the 30's late at night and it was wet and slippery and I could feel the tires slipping. Thanks guys.

on the real...as i was going to the shop on saturday am to get my winters put on the car gave me the 37 degree warning chime. i felt good about making the decision to put them on then and there.
today it's almost 70. you can't do anything about it so just leave it be, and yes you will be wearing down the tread faster. you can choose how hard you're gonna wear them out on warm days by your driving style. for me i'm taking it nice and easy until it gets chilly again. |

Put mine on last night. This is my first set of studless winter tires and will take some getting used to! Going from 19" performance tire to 17" winters feels like I'm driving on marshmallows now!
