heavy steering on 325d

Hi everyone,

I have an 08 325d (E92?0 and seem to have a problem with the steering, at motorway speeds the steering seems distinctly heavier around the straight-ahead than at low speeds.

The dealer claim all is ok (mechanic came on a test drive and said he could see what i mean but when they checked it everything is apparantly ok), but its heavy to the point of making small corrections at speed a series of jerky inputs rather than a smooth manouver. I've checked that it doesn't have the active steering system fitted, are there any known issues that could explain this at all?

I had exactly the same issue on my '07 325i vert when I first had it (was only a week old) - had to have a new steering rack fitted.

Pretty sure it will have an electric steering rack fitted.

Tyre pressures play a massive part in the steering feel at high speeds. IMO BMWs listed pressures for RFT are far too high-what tyres do you have and what pressures do you run?

Suggest you drive another similar car and compare.

Where are you in the UK?
