2007 Audi A8L.. Preview and first stages, updates soon!

Ok Guys, as promised here's my next job! A 2007 Audi A8L, fully loaded. The owner wanted to leave it with me while he attends a dental conference, so I've got it for the next three days with lots of work to be done in between classes.

First off, this is one of the most gorgeous cars out there IMO and it has what I am convinced to be one of the best engines in its class. I love VW cars and working on this one so far has really made me miss my GTI. Unfortunately, it's also hammered and could use a lot of work.

Every single wheel has curb rash 360 degrees around the edges. Even the spare. It really spoils the look of them. There are also a few scrapes on the sides near the quarter panels and one big gouge in the rear driver's side door.

Let the washing commence!

All foamed up. Some of it has had time to run off:

Post-rinse:

And some of the interior. The interior is stunning. The seats in particular. Nice leather, though BMW leather beats it IMO, and ventilated massage seats. Adjustable firmness on the headrest. Bose surround sound system . The Nav screen pops up out of the dash when the car is turned on.

Paint in BAD shape. These are after wash, before clay. I'm gonna try to get by with an orange pad but a yellow might be in order for this one, definitely will be for the roof. Not a spot of LSP on the whole vehicle.

I'll be working on this one for the next few, so I'll try to update often. Lemme know what you guys think!

Coming in soon: Hyundai Accent

for a helpful guy!

I can't believe how people neglect their interiors... If I see dog hair, dirt, or sand on my floor mats, I break out the vacuum right away.
Guess I'm crazy.

Good luck with the car!

Haha, no kidding. The pics you see are from quite a bit of interior strip-out already. So far I have retrieved from under the seats:

-Nine surgeons caps
-A T-shirt
-3.5 pairs socks
-Napkins from.. just about everywhere
-Stir fry
-1000+ toothpicks. The customer mentioned that he was using them to stop using chewing tobacco, so they are just everywhere. The ends are chewed to witches brooms, haha.

UPDATE:

I have begun work on the hood. I'm using Meg's105 on an orange pad and that is cutting it very nicely and evenly. This car has never been repainted or detailed before so I know that I have plenty of paint to work with. Still trying to take it easy though.

I've had great success giving it a go on speed six with the orange on light pressure for two passes, then pyramiding out the speeds while gradually increasing the pressure, using no pressure on the last five passes (speed 2).

Pics soon.

UPDATE:

Hood and front quarter panels finished! Lots of work, lots of polish, one totaled pad and some great results! This hood is full of tiny rock chips. It's got 80k miles on it and could really stand to be repainted.

This came off of the hood. Clay is Pinnacle XMT Speed Clay:

It begins!

50/50 between two panels. Left is post-compound. Still some of the deepest water spots left on the compounded panel.

2nd stage of correction. Meg's009.

3rd stage. Menzerna FP.

After polish:

LSP: Pinnacle Souveran.

Finished!

(Little lines near the light are cat hairs which I tracked outside)

Still lots to do. Coffee break!

Owner is an idiot for putting the soda in the cup holder. I had it spill on my console once. I will never use my cup holders for drinks again!!!!

Great start on the detail! Looks shinny already.

Wow, looks like the owner could use some pointers on how to take care of his car!

Good work so far!

Thanks guys! I'm glad I can impress!

Still hard at work. About half of the car is finished at this point. Once all polish is complete I'll post up pics, then I'll get final pics of the completed detail probably by tomorrow.

Hyundai Accent arrived today so I'm spreading out work between the two ATM.

Totally agreed, not a fan personally. The S-class looks good, but not sure about driving the driving experience - it's big and floaty. The 7 is certainly big, but it handles extremely well. I'd take the F01 any day.

I think it's a classy subtle car. Keep in mind that it came out around the same time the previous 7 series and S class came out, so the design isn't exactly fresh.

It's difficult to tell them apart via pictures but in person there's no mistaking them. This car is MASSIVE. There are also subtle headlight and grille differences but I see where you're coming from. Audis have always been more about the interior anyway.

Detail is finished now so I will try to have pics up ASAP. Owner was very pleased! I know you guys want pics I just need to find time to sit down and load them all.

Looking forward to seeing them. I know for sure that after finishing up a long detail the last thing I want to do is resize and host pics, I'd prefer to relax.

Pics, at last!

Here are the long-awaited pics. Sorry about all of the waiting but I got assigned a paper which needed attention first.

Little white bits are rock chips. Eugh.

Thanks for the patience! I have more which I can upload later.
