Doors Opening on their own

E91
57 plate

And every once in a while i go to open my car in the morning and find all the doors open. The first few times i thought i may have forgotten to lock it, but i've been double checking.

Just me or anyone else had this?

I find the poor design of the BMW key fob means I often accidentaly unlock the car when handling the key, in / out of pocket or when jangling the bunch of keys when trying to open the house front door, for example, I'll see the indicators flash.

The 'open' button on the fob is just too easy to press...

Now I unlock / lock the car from the bedroom window before lights out just to check.. sad maybe..

I've been doing the unlock / lock thing from the house before i go to bed too!!

I've actually got CCTV on my house....i might have to turn the camera to check the car and see if aliens are abducting it at night or it's user error.

Aaahhh, reminds me of my Alfa owning days!!!!

I used to arrive at my car to find the doors unlocked and the electric windows wide open (happened half a dozen times or so!).

I would take it in to get it checked out - sounds like an electrical fault of some sort.

I agree, this has happened to me.

Worst still, a few years ago we had an e46 330ci and I had a habit of operating the total closure/opening function when sitting down in the house. (My pants must be too tight!) Fell foul one very rainy evening when all the windows and sunroof opened and the car received an interior wash. One expensive valet later, to stop it smelling of damp, all good. Lesson learnt!

Becareful!

I had this happen to me many times. I swear it wasn't me not locking it up at night. Even had everything stolen out of the car one night because it was left open. Reported it to BMW several times during services but the guy just thought I was an idiot. I resigned myself to the fact it was my mistake. It was a 56 plate E91 320d M Sport.

However if you lock and then unlock by mistake the car should relock after about 3 minutes if no doors were open.

I often get out of bed at home and click the lock button again to make sure on the current car. Thankfully the current car hasn't suffered this issue.

On idrive cars yes. On non idrive I believe it was default. I am sure it was on my 56 plate E91.

I did this the other week. I put something on the side which happened to be on top of the car key very early in the morning.

Midday I went out to find that the car was open and all the windows were down. It's kept on the street too. Shattled myself.

Hmmm this is interesting...

The 335D I just sold used to unlock itself in the night...

Maybe 5 or 6 times I wandered out and thought 'shit, I must not have locked it' but now reading this I am beginning to realise it wasnt actually me...

No doubt I didnt press the keyfob to unlock once in the house, as the keyfob wouldnt work in the house, and because of the way I bring my keys in and take them straight to where I leave them overnight - I know I didnt sit on them... its one of those things you will have to take my word for but it definately happened!!

I had this a couple of times in a 520 - car was parked fairly close to the office. Keys in pocket, pressing against something fairly substantial, fairly often went out to find all the windows open and the car unlocked. Even found the boot wide open a couple of times (as it fully opened when unlocking with the fob)

What might this be?

You need to try emptying them more often.

I had this a couple of times with the E92 but not the E90. Went to the car to unlock it and it was already unlocked.

The Porsche Turbo was worse though, really sensitive to the slightest touch of the key fob even from inside the house.
