PDX-5 amp install: Will it fit?

I'm in the middle of the "standard" E90 Hi-Fi upgrade: PDX-5, SWS-8, and Rainbow SLC 210.25 front comps.

I wanted to know how successful members have been in fitting the PDX-5 into the previous Hi-Fi amp location. I would prefer not to purchase a new trunk trim piece with the extended height and door.

Will I be able to snap the plastic cover back on with my current setup? (similar photo below) Some members have reported a very tight fit.

Any advice on how best to mount the amp in the limited height?

I've seen more than one guy installing the PDX in that location, so it should fit (tight but fit).

Hence, the question if anyone else has been successful, and their recommendations.

There isn't going to be any variations between cars. If you put a mounting panel as I did, then the plastic part cover will certainly not snap back over. I used 1/4" birch plywood, I don't think even if you didn't use a panel that it would snap back over.

I did purchase a new trunk cover which adds the space for the CD changer so it will fit fine once I install that new cover. It's been sitting in my living room for over a year it seems... Looks like I can easily stack another PDX amplifier on top of it but I'm reluctant to do that because the PDX amps are not good for bass. I could either add equalization or go with another amplifier...
