Installing M3 seats on a M Sport
hey guys,
I have been offered a full set of M3 seats, but not sure if they will fit and work on my e92 M Sport? My current seats are heated and semi-automatic, however the M3's seats are heated and fully automatic.....i know i wont be able to use full auto feature without reprogramming the system, but i want to know whether the functions that i already have will still be there with the M3 seats installed? I tried calling BMW but they were useless...... thanks for any help |

I changed mine a few months back. I had cloth sport interior with only the bucket (is that how you call it?) function electronic. When we plugged the seats it did not work (the lumpbar support did though!). Most probably you will need reprogramming....it takes some hours and i recommend doing it at a stealership. Hope that helped!

I'm sure it will work.
Just give it a shot. If it doesn't work, just swap the seats back. Took me less than an hour to swap the seats in my e90. The only things with my swap is that all the features were identical, except for the fact that I had the non-zsp seats and swapped out for the zsp seats. So, all the functions on my zsp seats work. GL! And no need to go to a dealership, it's a very simple swap. The seats are heavy as hell, but that's the only hard part. Just make sure to remove the headrest before removing and installing the seats.

v24mis did you get anywhere with this?
I've just got hold of a full M3 interior and was attempting to fit the seats today but am having problems. I have an E92 M Sport with heated cloth seats which have electronic lumber, tilt and height adjustment on the drivers seat. With the new M3 drivers seat connected up, I only have bolster (is that the right term?) adjustment available, nothing else. Is is it case of rewiring or reprogramming? Thanks |

OK this is strange. Left the new M3 seats connected and sat in the car overnight, tried them again this morning - not working. Locked the car and left it for a few hours while I did other things, then just before I was going to remove them and put the old ones back in I tried the drivers seat and all the electrics were working, I could move it forward, backwards and tilt it etc. The passenger seat was not working.
I moved the drivers seat as far back as it would go to secure the front bolts but when I tried to move it forward again to do the back ones, it was not working! First thought was a loose connection but I cannot see how this can be, given the type of connector the seats use. Also I don't think the seats are faulty, everything is in very good condition, there's no damaged to the underside or anything like that. The only other thing that's crossed my mind is that it could be the battery. Coincidently I had a flat battery a couple of days ago due to not driving the car and having the electrics on while removing seats/door cards etc. I jump started the car before installing the M3 seats and it now starts by itself. The only other thing to mention is that at the moment, the 2 rear door cards have been removed. I don't see how this would cause any problems though. Can anyone shed any light on what's happening here? Thanks |

I think you could be right. What I can't understand is the randomness of it.
I've managed to get both seats bolted in and positioned by adjusting the seats with the controls until it stop responding, then locking the car and coming back 20 minutes later. I've had to do this 4 times. If the car does need reprogramming is it a big/expensive job and what to I actually need to ask my dealer to do? BTW my original seats were heated Blue Shadow Cloth M Sport ones. Thanks Last edited by nawtwrong; 06-20-2010 at 04:24 PM.. |

I think they would either work or not, can't see an intermittent issue like the one I'm experiencing being down to the seats being defective - but you never know.
I'll ask the person I bought them off why they were for sale and see if that gives me any further insight. |

Hi,
Does anyone know if this: http://www.bmw-scanner.com/?page=bmw..._v201&lang=eng Is suitable for reprogramming the car for the new seats I've fitted? Thanks |
