I have an SE model with the jack plug under the arm rest. If I get an IPOD cable for this can I control my IPOD via the steering wheel controls etc when in AUX??

Did a search for this and cant find the right info.

You can also get an iPoD connection that is in your glovebox. Have this on mine. Allows you to control it from the steering wheel and the track info comes up on the display as well.

Yes it is a dealer fit option so you can order when new or fit later. You can DIY but it will need coding into the car. Got the dealer to fit mine and it works a treat. The iPOD is hidden in the glovebox so you can leave it in the car without worrying.

£350-£400 so not cheap but cheaper than a CD changer and you get way more music at your fingertips. Given the charge to code the unit didn't seem much point as a DIY project.

had the glovebox ipod kit fitted at main dealer. It took the dealer 3 attempts to get mine working as I use my Iphone 3GS and it took a puma(?), cable swap and software update to get it working with my iphone

works like a dream now though

BMW PUMA is like a dealership help thingy. Bit like a technical bulletin, telling them how to fix a certain problem.

Where did you have this fitted?

iPod info on SAT NAV display

What track information do you see exactly with the iPod glovebox connection? I'm getting a 320d with SAT NAV Pro, and wondering if it's worththe £460 I've been quoted for a dealer fit.

Do you see album, artist and title?

A picture would be handy I reckon. I'd be interested in seeing this too.

I havent played about with mine much, just set up various playlists and play them that way, but i'm pretty sure you can sort by album etc.
It lists them by playlist title/artist/album depending on which "cd" you choose
Once its playing, its artist and song name. I'll try and take a pic tomorrow

excuse the crappy iphone picture quality

This is a pic of what you see when playing a playlist:

and this is a pic of the playlist "CD" listing your playlists alphbetically

The virtual cd's have different functions:

CD1 = Playlists
CD2 = Artists
CD3 = Album
CD4 = Genre
CD5 = Podcasts
CD6 = All Tracks on ipod

If you want to be able to control your iPod from the steering wheel controls, you would need to pick up an aftermarket integration kit like the Dice Electronics unit.

I have it in my car and it works wonderfully.

the forums. Plenty of posts re retrofitting ipod solutions. For what it's worth, I've got the mObridge unit - full control of my iPhone using steering wheel controls. Displays song title and artist in a non-iDrive car can choose by playlists, artist, etc.

My Dealer, Wood Salisbury first quoted £450 for this option a few months ago and in September when I wanted it fitted said it is no longer an option and has been discontinued but they would retro fit USB for me at the bargain price of ......... get this £1000.00 so bet you can guess what I said

I know this has been answered a billion times already but I just need clarification on the part number for the glovebox ipod retrofit kit?
Also, I have an LCI model if that makes any difference!

Just a description of what I did to get ipod playing in my non idrive e90.

I bought this:

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro..._id/10627.html

I know some don't agree with replacing OEM parts, but I personally love the album art on show. Full speed scrolling is also quality. It works fine with the steering wheel adapter too.

Also, it stopped me upgrading the Professional (non tweeter) sound system. After changing to this head unit the sound was so much better!

Could you possible post some pics if you don't mind? I'm looking to do the exact same thing with my E92. I would like to see how it looks in the car!

Thanks,
