Hi

As far I as I know there is a computer in BMW cars that handles the performance of the engine. And there is an interface that communicates with the driver to provide information about service, fuel consumption and these things. My question is: Is there anyway to communicate with the engine's computer directly and obtain its information directly?
Also, anybody knows any technical specifications of the CPUs and storage systems they use and what OS does it run on?

There is no aftermarket headunit to my knowledge that can support them if that is what you are wondering.
