Question After Proceed: FMIC, CATTED DP’S OR FULL EXHAUST?

Car:
07 335i 6MT
Vishnu V3 - Map 1 – 11-2
BMS Dual Cone Intake (not installed yet)

After using my Proceed for a while, I feel the need to go further…

I am overall satisfied with my car, but if feel that it isn’t “breeding” as it could on the upper RPM’s (+6000rpm). This feeling is consistent with the logs that show a significant decrease in the boost past 6000rpm…

I allready bought, but not installed, a dual cone filter, and I suppose that it will help a bit…

However, I believe that this will not be enough, so I would like to do something about it, but staying catted, though…

So, I think my 3 best options are:
  1. Catted DP’S (AR?)
  2. Full Exhaust (Milltek?)
  3. FMIC (Helix?)

I am stuck between these options, because for now I can only choose one!

Also, for what I read, these mods cost more or less the same and give same power output…

For aesthetic reasons, I am leaning for the Milltek, but no sure though…

Any thoughts?

Rodrigo

I would go for the intercooler next for two reasons. Because it lowers intake temperatures it is something that is also healthy for the motor. It will make the power you currently have more consistent and I personally was amazed with the Helix in its ability to cool down after each hard run.
If you not going to be sitting flat out for long periods of time then go with the DP's first. In my personal experience they yielded far more power than the cooler and made boost response amazing.

Get something with cast end-tanks for good airflow and less pressure drop, like the AMS or Evolution Racewerks Intercooler.

FMIC... same answer most give on every one of these surveys. You just can't efficiently run 12 or 14 or 15, etc. psi on that stock piece of crap FMIC. It is restrictive and more importantly just can't keep the IAT's down.

Protect your engine, turbos, etc... and make consistent power that lasts more than a quick glory dyno run. Get an FMIC!

Question But then again...

Thank you for your thoughts.

It seems that the FMIC is getting ahead in the pool, and I agree that it may be the logical step, but:

1) I will do both mods in the near future for sure...
2) The winter is here...
3) I run my car hard 95% of the time at night, so temperature may not be that much of a problem...
4) I could install the FMIC in the summer...

Against all odds, I am leaning towards the 3" Catless Downpipes now and leave the FMIC to the summer...

Specially now that I know I can install and uninstall it myself (rhino ramp )!!!

My main purpose is to gain top end power...

Honestly I like the FMIC for the whole package. BUT if i could only choose one i would get the UNCATTED dps. After me and my friend installed and took it off the lift first turnover brought a smile ear to ear. I actually installed an RPI FMIC and RR Coated Un catted dps the same day. DPS by far yield more power and bring a sound that might make you forget about an exhaust and be sleeper unless you want to free up some airflow.

In closing DOWN PIPES(uncatted trust me)

wait hold on, you have a procede V2, and you're running the newest 11-2 maps? Isn't that for firmware 145 and the V3 and up? Just wondering cuz I had a V2 that I just upgraded to a V3 rev II so I could run the newest maps and have all the new goodies that Shiv gives us lol.

I have the PROcede Rev. II CANbus version, and uploaded the firmware 145 to run these maps. So, I think it is the V3RevII.

I have corrected the info in the first message. Thank you.
