GIAC Stage 2+...12.1 at 115.5 on 100 Octane

I'm a little bummed that I didn't get into the 11s but I'm still happy that I broke my old time of 12.3.
I'd also like to give a big thanks to Terry for letting me borrow his drag radials.
I was bouncing a lot with my street tires and I was having a hard time getting the trans to accept 2nd gear.
I had to let the car cool down in order for second gear to work.

Anyway, it's obvious that methanol is the real deal. The other N54s that were there were running methanol and breaking into the 11s easily.
It was fun!

So here are my mods and what I ran:

-Full Weight--All Seats in place. Nothing taken off the car to make it lighter.
-2 gallons of 91 Octane mixed with 5 gallons of 104 averaging out to approximately 100 Octane.
-GIAC Stage 2+ (Beta)
-AA Intercooler
-Macht Schnell 3" Downpipes
-Autobahn Exotics Exhaust with High Flow Cats
-Macht Schnell Dual Cone Intakes
-ACT Clutch
-Wavetrac LSD

EDIT, I just found out that I am now the quickest and fastest e90 6MT 335i.

A bit OT:
Any sound clips of the HFC AA exhaust with catless downpipes? Any drone? Rasp?

I just installed Macht Schnell downpipes yesterday, I thought it would make my stock exhaust a bit louder, and it did, but it made the sound of turbos spooling and circulating air even louder lol. (I have Injen DCI too).

Wow nice runs Mr 5. With meth injection I bet 11's would not even be an issue...Are you ever planning on adding Meth? GIAC 2 flash looks very nice.

I have seen this many times before and cannot understand why?? I would think the the fastest 60ft time would result in the highest trap speed since you would be getting up to speed sooner.. But your run on street tires had the worst 60ft time and had the highest trap..?

The street tires have less rolling resistance too. I was so tempted to put on my 19" street tires just to see how they would do. I have put on DRs and at times got no better launch than my street tires. (on a regular non-burnout launch)

Ok, but does anyone know why a bad launch will make you trap higher than a good launch? Rolling resistance maybe, but I have seen it happen when people are doing runs on the same tires..

It's because when the tires are allowed to spin you generate power earlier and thus the mph is a little higher. When you dead hook the car almost bogs a little and you lose that mph but your car is quicker in the 1/4 mile.

Mr.5
Why did you put 100 octane in the car?
I was under the impression that the GIAC tune works off tq targets meaning once it reach that target with whatever boost/timing, it will not exceed that target. So the way I understood that: throwin racefuel/meth on the car wont do a damn thing cause it will not let your surpass whatever tq target they built into the software.

Either way impressive times and traps.

Thanks for the props.
This was the stage 2+ map that was either for the 91/methanol or race gas.
You are correct about them having torque targets but in this case, the torque targets were actually higher than what I was making.
If I would have had meth, I would have made more power since that was what the map was initially intended for.
91/meth makes more power than 100 octane.

Great times!!!

Does the Giac tune program in an O2 defeat like O2 sims do for catless DP's? Or do you also have to run a sim.

I did see that in some of my runs. But others with the same 60' times still had different traps, so its hard to say for sure.

As far as launching, I tried so many different things. The truth is, the track would come and go with prep, etc. Some people said to try lower pressure in the rear. Didn't seem to help me. I was getting loose even after the car shifted into 3rd and started heading towards the wall! Well, later I raised the rears to 25psi. I did just as good or better. And finally I just started really burning out the tires in the water box to see if that helped. It did seem to help some. (I usually just drive around the waterbox and do a simple scrub).

The only thing I regretted not doing was putting on my 19" rear street tires to see what I really could do with them on the launch pad. I was getting 2.0 60' times on cold pavement. That would be as good as many of my drag strip launches yesterday.

Mr.5, it seems kind of confusing that you ran a full race map and still only trapped 115. With 400 rwhp on your 91 octane map, one would expect a lot faster car on the race gas map. GIAC was showing 435 rwhp on this map yet that is not a 435 rwhp trap or even close to one.

Not true. with +400whp you can trap whatever since a million factors can influence it. There are not many "a lot faster than 115mph traps" recorded.

See for example:

Show as your own trap, please.
