JB3 2.0 Beta - Track Testing

I haven't really updated you guys on 2.0 development in the last little while, so hear is a little teaser. BMS took their car to the the track this weekend and here are some of the results with some 2.0 software logs.

First Log; 18ohm board
Second Log; 12 ohm board

The map used were the same for both boards and basically map 12 for 1.4 users.

The 12 ohm board allowed the system to produce an additional psi of boost and is most evident in 4th gear holding ~16psi to redline. (meth was used here to keep IATs down (80s)

BMS mentioned that for dyno glory runs, the 12 ohm might be worth consideration, but the hard core drag racers should stick with the 18ohm/680ohm combo.

A note on this for current JB3 users. The 18ohm board upgrade is for the hard core guys only and you shouldn't expect optimum pump gas performance. As Terry says "don't expect the car to run optimally on pump gas with the 18 ohmers in there. It may, but isn't guaranteed. If you are concerned with pump gas performance, warranty, or the cost of motor replacement IT ISN'T FOR YOU"

In the second log shows a little hidden new feature in 2.0 (adjustable launch mode), but its still a work in progress. More on that when we have had more testing.

If you have to ask its not for you. BMS observed the car ran the same traps at 17psi as it did at 19psi. Although on the dyno you see a few more HP at the higher boost level.

i know what launch control is.. i was wondering how it is going to be implemented... like are we going to be able to press the dtc button twice and it will initiate launch control or are there certain launch control maps where the boost is raised more gradually or something..

He was referencing your comment about 19 psi being safe, not your comment about launch control

I am not sure exactly how the launch mode will work. Stay tuned as I will post more updates as I get them

holy shit! 19 psi!?!?!?!? Are you kidding? no way those turbos are going to last at that boost. Regardless of the meth or FMIC for cooling, you're going to kill your turbos at that boost.

What map is 16psi? I hear that is the consensus on what is safe for the stock turbos.

Will 2.0 have a speed-delimiter?

There are no plans to build a speed delimiter in to the JB3. I know at some point they will offer it as a separate add on like the downpipe fix, but don't have an ETA for it.

Someone needs to come out with a turbo upgrade.. I really think we're at the limit when it comes to what can be done on a tune with the stock turbos.. they are WAY WAY too small to be running 19PSI..

impeller go bye bye now. (

No, it's the new JB3 software that allows map loading, logging, and custom tuning via laptop interface.

It's unlikely you'd be pushing the engine that way on a daily basis, and it appears you are 'time averaging' around 16psi, with over-boosting occurring only during the bottom of the rpm range during shifts.

One thing to remember with boost is that it is really in the higher rpms that you have to be concerned about. I don't see it logged to rpms, so we don't know if he peaked boost at say 4k rpm or what.

I'm just pointing out holding this boost at higher RPM is not for the faint of heart. So for those on the forum that are not really "racers" and not familiar with the risks involved, stick with 24ohm/map 7, for example. Which is around 15-16psi on meth tapering down to 11-12psi at the shift. Still enough power to run 11s which has been proven by customers. But won't get you those "record" slips.

With the 18ohm what would be considered a 'safe' map to run with dp's, fmic, stett charge pipe/bov, catless exhaust, and 93 octane? Also what is the equivilant of map 7 on the standard board with the 18ohm? I wish to do this so I can turn it up when I go to the track or what ever.
