Bad Tweeter: What to do?

I noticed the other day that one of my tweeters has gone crackly. I haven't really had any major objections to the L7 audio quality, but now that I'm looking at a mediocre $65 (OEM) replacement part... are there any other options I should consider?

Is it even remotely sensible to get with a pair of aftermarket tweeters without replacing the rest of the speakers?

Check the impedance of the L7 OEM tweeters (I think that they are 4 ohms as the mids are also 4 ohms but I'm not sure) and take a look at these CDT TW-25 tweeters (4 ohms): http://cgi.ebay.com/CDT-AUDIO-TW-25s...item19b7f25e96

I used to have a pair of those and they sound sweet (they have a metal version as well).

Test it with a meter if it is really blown. If it is, replace it. They are around $100 at the dealership.

Replaced a tweeter a week ago because it was making an annoying vibrating noise when making calls. No issues so far.
I suggest you use Tischer.

I have a pair of like new (2 weeks old) L7 tweeters from the rear deck/shelf that I took out when I bought the car. Want to buy them? PM me your offer...

are the tweeters easy to get to and replace as a DIY? i noticed my driver's side tweeter (the one in the little box at the bottom of the driver side door window) doesn't work unless i crank up the volume all of a sudden- kinda wakes it up.
