interesting thing i found out
the other day my friend bought a brand new 2010 wrx
car is great by the way - he told me that it had this option where when your on a hill waiting for the light to change, the car doesnt roll back when you put in in first gear. so the other day i did the same sh!t for the bmw and what do you know. it works for us as well. i had it in first gear while clutching and i slowly let the brake go - the car stood still for a second or two before it started to roll back sorry for being a noob but i find it to be very interesting xDDDD hahaha o yea - HAPPY GOBBLE GOBBLE kim |

its not an option, its standard on most new manual cars. it is pretty cool tho, and it prevents accident or douchebags who sit on your bumper when your on a hill.

Why in the world would it annoy you guys? If you just drive normally you won't even realize it's there. I've been driving a stick for over 30 years and certainly don't need this feature, but I'd rather have it than not. It comes in quite handy sometimes when I just want to be lazy. And BTW - if you want to roll back and forth and wear out your clutch a bit while you're waiting at the light, you can still do this if you just wait for it to disengage - which is what, about 2 seconds I think...
So I'm curious, what is it about this feature that bothers you guys? I don't find it intrusive one iota... |

i don't like it because it will kick on unexpectedly when there is next to no gradient on the road with a slight tap of the brake pedal , im not the type to roll back at lights and prematurely wear down my clutch but it does get annoying when the brakes hold the car when you don't want it to. and imho, i don't like having aids on my brake pedal, thats why i got a 6MT. im sure i would have a different opinion on the system say if i was constantly parking uphill and parallel lol.

i am just not a fan of electronic aids, always been a fan of three pedals, a gearbox, with nothing in between.

clutch wear? if you know how to drive stick, you should barely move back on a hill and have no need for this.

Right, but the fact is you still cause less clutch wear if the car isn't trying to move. Especially on a step hill. My point is it doesn't harm anything.
