Westwood plateau, Vancouver? Winter Tires?

Anyone live in the plateau and running winters?
what are u using, and how do they handle?
was thinking of blizzak ws-60 but want something cheaper and came across
General Altimax Artic. would they work pretty good, even in westwood?

Living in westwood plateau during winter times is very HECTIC. The only downside of living there, the hill is crazy.

depends on where u live on the plateau, if u live high up, like plateau blvd, hampton, eagle mountain, etc areas, if probably need a SUV, its not the snow tires, the snow is just too deep and your 3 series doesn't have enough ground clearance if they haven't plowed the streets

last winter, i saw people with like ML, X5, Land Rovers, etc getting stuck in deep snow or crashed thinking they have SUV and they are unstoppable, but if the streets are plowed, you should do fine with snow tires

My friend lives in coquitlam as well, and even with T-rated snow tires on his 335i coupe, it was pretty bad. Had to park on the main road down the mountain and ask his friend to drive him up. Snow tires don't do much when your car is RWD without LSD, and you are trying to go up an icey + unplowed hill.

My buddy lives up there as well. He currently uses pirelli sotto zeroes on his pontiac G8 GT (V8 version) and he describes them as useless during last year's snow storm. He is looking to buy a studless snow tire to see if it is better than a performance snow tire.

i live on a street with same steepness as abotu Johnson St.
obviously it doesnt get plowed fast and as much but my street does get plowed so it is unliekly that the snow height will reach the body height of the 335.

2-3 years ago, i did Barely! borderline! manage to use e46 325i with oem all seasons around the area with DTC/DSC off and spinning like shit on the hills to get up. but 2-3 years ago, it never SNOWED as much as it did last year. so... i don't know what it will be like with the 335i.
