I Got It! :( w/ bird poo
i finally got my 328I Premium package, Navi with RTT, sound system, PDC, and automatic transmission. Black with saddle brown interior. Problem is whenever they pulled it out of thier garage at the dealer a damn bird came and shit like 3 diff places. When i went home, i took some wax and a MF towel and took it off. Now there is a mark from the bird shit and i have swirls around that area where i waxed. ON A 14 HOUR OLD CAR! IMA BOUT TO GO TO SOME SHOP TO BUY SOME CLEANING SUPPLIES, WHAT DO YOU RECOMAND FOR THE BIRD SHIT MARK AND THE SWIRLS AROUND IT

I would take it back to the dealer, since that is where the bird crapped. If there are a good dealer, they will take care of it for you.

I would first use a light polish to get rid of the mark and then use wax
Meguiars has some very good stuff Their bug and tar remover may also work well

try milk. Seriously. It neutralised the acid from the bird poop.
Then: 1) Paint Cleaner (I use Meguiars DC 1 Paint Cleaner) 2) Polish (I use Meguiars DC 2 Polish) 3) Wax (I use NXT Wax). Let the wax sit on the pannel for 50-60 minutes (preferably in a garage or something to minimize dust/dirt) Wax off. I've got a saphire black car, african birds have VERY acidic poop. Lots of experience. Words of warning. Don't do one spot - do an entire pannel (ie the whole hood or whole door). The milk should be left on for about 10 minutes. If it's a vertical pannel - soak an MF in milk and DAB! Paint cleaner isn't always nessesary, I just prefer it... |

Where in Texas are you? I know several very good detailers in TX - I would recommend bringing it to one, getting the paint in good shape, then maintaining it properly. Autopia.org, bettercarcare.com etc, all good places to start.

So, what is the difference if you have the "swirl marks" on your car now, in two days or in 2 months???
They will be there sooner or later. What is up with us -- BMW drivers. It is just a damn car. It will have swirls, chips, dents, scratches... Go, drive it and enjoy it -- that is the difference between the BMW and most of other cars... OK, gotta go and wash my car now... |

Well, if you have swirls on your car odds are you're not maintaining the paint. Oxidation could follow, as well as possible rust in stone chips (assuming you aren't filling them), eventual clear coat failure, kids get sick, nuns die in the streets.
![]() Seriously though, I get the idea. I just think car maintenance is sometimes made to seem like a "huge deal" on this board while in reality it really isn't that hard to maintain even a black car. Cheers. |

You certainly don't want to leave the acidic stuff on any chrome parts. I don't recall if the E92 328 has any (aside from the kidney grille). That crap got itched into my window trim.
