Service Light - Brake Fluid Change

The "Service" light was on last week when I started my car. I searched in the forum and it is most likely the brake fluid needed to be changed.

However, I am wondering will the dealership will void my warranty if I do the brake fluid change from someone else such as RMP or Bimmersport?

I am thinking taking the car to speedstar but I am not sure whether they are able to reset the service light

I have third party changed my brake fluid, all I need is to show dealer my receipt of brake fluid change and they reset the service light for me.

So, only the dealership can set the service light?

Who is your third party? Speedstar?

Oh really? I thought it is a tear and wear item!

Is this also covered under the 4 yrs. / 80,000km free maintenance warranty?

If so, I am thinking back the car to the deralership which I bought - Autohaus but after hearing so many horrible experience from you guys, I "may" just go to a private mechanic doing the service. At least, I don't have to wait for a whole day or two to do the fluid change and get pissed from the service advisor.

Call into one of the more "preferred dealers" and ask them if they will cover it.

Wear and tear is probably the actual brake discs and pads (and the stupid brake sensors).

I believe fluids are covered, call and confirm. I know I did mine under warrenty.

Yes, same here and I even have the invoice from budd's BMW to prove it.

Parkview would be the nearest dealership near my office. I am going to call them now and see what they say.

However, I may have to take off my SSTT before service. Beside, I ama thinking whether I have to take off my dual cone intakes as well? I assume they are not mod friendly right?

Who would be the recommended service advisor there?

Just call Parkview BMW and they said that the "Service" is under warranty and they can do it on Saturdays too. It takes only about an hour for the service.

You see if you pay for what we pay for the car, we deserve the above average service that should come with it!!

It's not a wear & tear item.

And YES, it is cover under our BMW maintenance program. Dealers change it every 24,000km FREE. Autohaus did mine last August. It's just part of the 2nd year services package.
