Looking for new bulbs
Would these be OK
http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H7-...-150-pair.html http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PHILIPS-H7-POW...item3357ddd8a4 They are a direct H7 replacement so surely no errors right. Any ideas on a decent sidelight, I want a complete upgrade of the front lights. With sidelights should I stick to halogen or LED? I take it sidelights throw up the errors? |

I take it i am not the only one that thinks standard e90 lights are shit then!!

I will have the complete front end done by Tuesday (sidelights, main/dipped, foglamps). I'll post up the results then.
I've decided on these: Last edited by SiKkBaSs; 11-27-2009 at 12:51 PM.. |

I'd take all these 'claims' of 50% brighter etc with a large pinch of salt.
Surely the LED sidelamp bulbs would chuck up errors.....?

I did exactly this on my 325i, changed headlights, foglights, and sidelights.. the results:
-- Headlight pics -- Before Left sides before, Right sides after. Both lights done, Sidelights still yellow. The Result. Headlight Before. Headlight After. Headlights and Foglights. No pics of LED sidelights yet, and yes they chuck up the bulb error but it doesn't really affect my driving as it disappears in a few seconds. Shafz.

Just installed the lights. LED's did produce an error as you guys said (I was assured they wouldn't but fack it) so I just put regular ones in there. The H7s are outstanding from what I could see for a halogen bulb. Definitely brighter and more stylish at night as are the fogs (checked in an underground car park)
The parts used are here: H7 bulb http://www.lkperformancestyling.co.u...product=BU477P £21.98 Sidelight http://www.lkperformancestyling.co.u...product=BU501P £4.00 Fogs http://www.lkperformancestyling.co.u...roduct=BU9006P £29.99 I would put pics up but the quality on my phone is cack. Also is anyone still on a mission to find the resistors needed for these LEDs? Anyone cracked it? I'll vid if want? |

I got the resistors, but changed my mind, not going to chop wires, am going for LCI headlamps instead (Halos)

I take it you need 1 pr for the fogs
and 1 pair for the main/dipped headlights (not 4 seperate bulbs right?) and 1 pair sidelight bulbs Looking to do this myself soon, but not fussed about LED Sidelights, as I really do not see the point in creating an error and then cancelling it out by adding another bit of wiring ?? . |

tried to grab some pics when i changed mine recently to halfords super brilliance, both pics were with the same dirty light etc,
before: very yellow and not that powerful After: much whiter and so much stronger, real world night driving has massively improved!

I went for these: http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=25 : - Philips Blue Vision H7 4000K Xenon/HID effect. Autoexpress rated them and they are actually very white, not Chav blue .
Think they are only +30% but wow what an improvment and havent been flashed at all by oncoming traffic. Got them from ebay from powerbulbs for £17.

What actually makes these bulbs brighter? They all seem to be the same wattage..
Is it the gas they use? Can some actually use Xenon gas instead of Halogen like the ones in the link below seem to be? Or, is the description misleading and is just trying to say they look like xenons when on? http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H7-...-NEW-pair.html Edit: These below also state to be Xenon and get cracking reviews! http://www.care4car.com/productdispl...non_bulbs.html Last edited by BanziBarn; 01-14-2010 at 01:40 PM.. |

I have to agree though with the earlier poster who said that the E90 lights are bad. Compared to my X-type they're dire (but the E90 is a much MUCH nicer car!). |
