Real Time Traffic Information - Updatable to 330i?

The new 335i has RTTI, so my question is, can a BMW dealership update the software in my 330i to include RTTI also? One more thing, I've heard you no longer have to click "Accept" in iDrive on the 335i's. Could a BMW dealership update the software in my 330i to do this as well? Thanks.

Just got the sofeware upgrade last month for my 325i and you no longer need to click the accept button if you let the idrive stay for more than 5 seconds on the front screen. I'm not sure if they can do the RTTI retro.

How much did the software upgrade cost you and how long did it take? Anything else it changed? Oh, and how often do software updates come out?

I believe it is NOT possible to retro-fit the RTTI onto previous I-Drive systems because there are different internal components, specifically I heard that the CPU was upgraded to a "faster" unit to allow RTTI and it was this new CPU that was partly to blame for the Nav-Delay in production.

RTTI upgrade is not possible.

All USA 2007 3, 5 and 6 Series with nav ( except cars with HD radio ) will have the capability. New X5 will also have it

1 Requirement is that the car has at least the 2007.1 nav disk

As mentioned the US "Lawyer" screen goes away by itself with the newer software, which all cars can be updated with

Thank you E90Fleet. :rocks: Do you know if updated software will speed up the terribly slow response of my iDrive system? Everything is slow and delayed. Mine is a May '06 build.

Fleet, any info behind why RTTI upgrade is not possible on USA 2007 models? Also, what does the newer software update provide other than the accept screen thing?

The RTTI function included some hardware changes in the nav unit for it to work.

The softeare updates are really to fix problems, but they someties add new little things like the US lawyer screen going away by itself.

You may have a problem getting a dealer to upload the new software unless you have a problem which is fixed by it.

Do a search for "progman" to see posts with what fixes are included in the latest updates

There is no need for an upgrade on 2007 models as RTTI is standard if you order satnav. So saying it's not possible doesn't make sense because the feature is already there.

Will RTTI display information only for selected major markets? That would, of course, diminish its value.

If you live in the NY Metro area who cares.

I do live in Metro NY actually, but if the traffic reporting is limited to just the 5 boroughs, as an example, I don't know how much that would help.

That's why I take the train into the city every day instead of driving.

It'd be nice to have RTTI for surrounding areas for the weekends though. I've gotten caught in bad accidents and construction a few too many times.

Ja, it is limited to major markets, but there are at least several dozen of those if not more.

Is there a published list of the markets served? I should think it would be able to cover anything that traffic.com can.

Sucks we can't upgrade the nav with traffic. My amazement on what this car CAN'T do is never ending. I should've went portable GPS in the first place. Costco has a portable with traffic for $600.

Talking NEW PROGMAN 23 Differences - No RTTI with 2007.1 disc

Just updated with progman 23 and I have a 2007.1 disc...........No RTTI.

New features.
1. All new font - taller skinnier font for all menus.
2. iMenu rearranged - date/time separate from display settings. BT menu separate.
3. New wording for soft, normal, intensive auto vent settings.
4. when scrolling in manual mode on the FM tuner, if you change station rather rapidly, it will actually stay on the station your listening to until you stop moving it. no more waiting while it hits every fuzzy station in between. used to do this on the E60s.
5. keypad permanantly added to bottom of screen while in an active call.
6. new additions to the OSD menu. hold i drive controller down for 15 secs. click 3 right, 3 left, 1 right, 1 left, 1 right and then push down. just do it and you will see.
7. must be others but my wife drives the car mainly.
