Clutch Delay Valve mod!
Hi all,
Just considering replacing my CDV with a modified original one on the 135i as explained in the following link! http://www.zeckhausen.com/CDV.htm Although this is common on 130i's I don't recall anyone here mentioning it for the E90... Anyway, combined with a ShortShift, it certainly looks like you could gain a bit of straight line sprint speed for not much money. On the 135i, I'll just need to buy a second valve, pop the middle out with an Allan key and replace - I love this kind of 'DIY' garage mod!! Matt |

I had this done on my Z4 and it did the job I still have the original CDV in the kitchen draw!

Removal of the CDV is in my next quote from Birds.
Its just a few quid labour to take it out, just omit it completely, there's no need to fit a 'fake' one Speed religion used to sell modded ones with the gubbins removed for about £12, but I don't know who else does them in the UK. A good mod for manuals IMO. |

You can buy a box of 5 CDVs from any dealership for under £5 - you can modify them yourself in 5 seconds. A quick tap on an allan key with a hammer and job done.

Is there really a noticeable difference in clutch take-up? I test drove a manual 128i and the clutch had NO feedback whatsoever, did not like it, felt super mushy. My RPS 6-puck setup in my Z is 100x better.

It sounds to me (from a bit of reading) that this would mean the tube is shortened enough to make it a bit tight, not to mention that if you fit a modified OEM one, noone will ever notice the difference at a glance - no big deal if you already have ARBS, wheels, remap blah blah but why not try and keep it as close to standard looking under the bonnet as you can? Your just being silly now Yahoo - if you prefer 'keep it looking standard when its up on axel stands'
Anyway, I have ordered mine and its guaranteed here for tomorrow! It cost £4.51, I was a bit dissapointed I didn't get a box of 5 for that price, but I only needed one and I found £5 down the back of the sofa, so I felt the balance of power was restored and placed the order anyway! Matt |

I wanted to do this mod on my 330d but SpeedReligion became no more so lost the bottle to do it myself. The gearchange is really jerky in it.

LOL - I really meant in terms of warranty work. If I developed clutch or gearbox problems and it was visually obvious that the CDV had been removed it would give a dealership an opportunity to deny a warranty claim. A modified CDV would be far less obvious than a non existent one.

The kit I ordered Tone, was this one - PN - 25.11.0.444.661 We spoke about getting just the 'mechanical' components initially, well it turns out its actually cheaper to buy the whole kit. Strange but true, confirmed by ringing a few seperate dealers! I will either fit the lot seeing as its now on its way (guaranteed tomorrow) or I will sell the gaiter and knob if I dont like the feel/look of it and retain the standard! Matt |

The short shift is also on my pending quote from Birds, It would be nice to get some feedback on it matt.
It seems easy to fit, but i'm lazy and don't have a garage and its cold and wet. |

I was considering fitting them, but I just don't think I am up to it - to be 100% honest. Am looking forward to it and obviously the review will follow as always! Matt |

I'd looked at the US 'how to' and it looks easy in theory, with the interior works taking a few minutes.
The access to the underside linkage clips is tricky without a proper lift though, even ramps would be awkward and I'm far too old for that stuff. Funnily enough, a while back my BMW dealers quote £220 and ZERO fitting, saying it takes just a few minutes!!!! I think they assumed its just the 'knob'... or more probably they are the 'knobs' |
