Labor estimates for replacing turbos

Hi,

anyone has experience about labor efforts ( hours ) to have the 335i turbos replaced by a professional shop ? My turbos are ok, just planning an upgrade.

Cheers,
Eugen

depends how "good" the shop is . Surely 10 hours are needed.

Sure. GT Pro's are out, Turbo Dynamics is in testing and Rob Beck can be expected soon. Not sure about ASR. I want coolant and oil-cooled turbos, so a stock turbo overhaul & upgrade is planned.

I believe it cost 2k for replacing turbos so that 2k/135(labor)=~15 hours

A good competent shop can remove the turbos from a car in 3.5 hours flat - the key is to lower the front subframe in one go, and swing the steering rack out of the way. Doesn't change the front suspension geometry either as none of the adjustable parts are removed.

Reinstall will be just 4 hours.
