bird shat residue!?
So I was blessed by a bird the other day in the form of a huge shat on my hood. Next day I wipped it off and discovered a residue that did not want to come off. I tried meguires bug and tar remover and quick detailer...nothing, nada. Didnt even put a dent in the residue. The paint feels somewhat smooth over the residue but I cant seem to get it off...in the right light there is now a cloudy haze in the shape of bird poop splatter. Any suggestions???

i would head to a .25 carwash and try to spray the remaining residue off with the high pressure wand... without doing any manually scrubbing of the area. this will eliminate the possibility of any additional scratches. then polish the surface.

I had that....needed liberal application of claybarring, polishing and waxing for it to come off. The dropping was on the car for all of 15 minutes as I rushed to the nearest place where I could hose it down. What the heck do these birds eat?

I've had that happen a few times. You need to use a polish or cleaner wax. May have to go over the spot several times and then wax the whole panel. Over time I find that these spots fade and you don't see the spot anymore but that probably depends on the severity of the shat!

I had to have my detailer use an oscillating buffer to remove it. I don't know what chemicals he used, but no amount of soap, water, or elbow grease took it off. But the detailer was able to completely remove that cloudy haze you're talking about.

Thanks guys for the tips...ill pick up some paint cleaner/polisher when I get the chance. I tried a cleaner wax today and boiling hot water in spray bottle as one poster suggested. Neither worked! This bird must have had some serious digestive issues.
