Folding Mirrors E92 - Retro fit?
Can you retro fit folding mirrors on the E92?
I guess you will need mirrors and the triangle part that houses the motors and the switch/button for the door. Will you need to update the wiring or will be be there with the sockets for plugs to plug into?

You'll need a new mirror assembly and the switch on the door. And you'll need to code the car for the module to recognise there's now a folding capability. It's not cheap to do at all - the mirror assembly each side is around £310 IIRC, plus the internal switch module and the programming. Near enough £800-900 by the time you're done?

This just adds credence to the argument that you should get a car with the options you want from the outset. It's like the HID kits (to some extent), by the time you're done it would have been cheaper to buy the car with them installed from the outset (be it from new or on a 2nd hand motor).

I was searching for the "right" car for nearly 2 months...it is difficult and time consuming...as you often find a decent spec but with high milage or not in your prefered colour...but in the end its worth the wait...and when you have your car home a week and you discover folding mirrors its even better!!...anyway check out ebay there is a set of folding mirrors for sale in the UK not cheap but its a matter of personal choice...check them out

What I mean is that I am now in the hunt for an E92 and I considered one which had virtually the correct spec bar a couple of things (folding mirrors being one of them) with the view that I could retrofit them but it seems to me that retrofitting these things is just not cost effective and it would be more wise to hold out for the right spec to present itself. Obviously I know that a compromise will be in order if I do not want to wait forever and a day. |
