It said an "actual $1 bill" so I do not believe you would have to use it at Burger King. It is more of a gimmick to make people think about Burger King than anything I think.

Funny, there was a similar story in today's WSJ about frequent fliers using their credit cards buying $1 collectors coins from the U.S. mint (free shipping), and then taking the coins directly to the bank and putting them in their account (and subsequently paying off the cards). They had testimonials of some people getting lifetime status upgrades on airlines, free trips to the tropics, etc, etc. Pretty funny.
