How many guys run summer tires during the winter??

I'm curious how many tri-state bmw owners actually ride on their stock or aftermarket summer tires through the winter. My car isn't a daily driver and I only take it out on the weekends so i'm not sure if its worth it for me to spend 1500 on new winter wheels, tires and tpms. I have no intentions of taking the car out if there is any snow on the ground or chance of snow that day but concerned about cold weather traction in the dry when its below freezing out.

if you dont plan on taking it out in the snow then i would save my money. my uhps were actually fine in the snow we got the other day. i havent had time to switch them out with my winters.

I ran Summer only tires thru two winter in a 350Z, I live in Pittsburgh, so we can accumulate some snow. I only ever had issues once in my Z. Now the BMW, I just run allseasons, but I have an Xi so it def helps.

if your not driving in snow you should be fine. Just dont drive like you would on warm days because of the summer rubber on cold ground. And if you have any doubts you have another car

but no snow tires just take off the expensive rims so in the event i do drive the wonderful salt on the road along with the potholes brought on by the plows don't tear up my good wheels!!

As long as its dry out, I can drive my BMW, if not, I'm in my Honda.

My car could barely start off in second when it was cold raining on Sat., these summers need to be swapped out ASAP.

I would not suggest running summer tires in the winter...its a good recipe for having unwanted body work done...even if the roads are dry and it's not snowing out.
I've got winters on my set of oem 162's that are going on once I get my car back from the body shop and snap a couple pics
Although my wrx with winter tires or the wifes g35x with winters, gets most of the real winter duty.

I always ran on summer tires on my S2k, Z4,E92, snow or rain or whatever.
Yes, i sometimes skid but never had an accident. It all depends how you control it.

On my VMR's NEXEN 3000's <---- Garbage all around. But for Price oriented PPl they are good.

I am going to change to OEM RFT's on the 162's soon. Don't even have a clue how these will be.

My guess is I will atleast do an All season Continental Extreme contact DWS, if not a square set-up of Dunlop 3d's

I wouldn't run summers in the cold. They suck. Maybe just buy some all seasons for those cold dry days at least.

Drives summer tires all season but my daily is an integra so the E90 is only driven on the weekends and not if theres snow on the ground, put it this way its useless once theres snow on the ground unless you got an XI or winter tires.

i did it my first winter with the car..no problems but be sure to check the weather and take it easy when the temps are low. I still don't even take my 335 out with my snow tires on (I have a Honda Fit as me dd) but I use the snows for cold temps and potholes..or if I get caught in a storm I can at least get home. You'll be fine.
