Thumbs up ONR is the real deal

I've always been skepitcal about using ONR. The idea of not having a hose and sudsy shampoo was just crazy to me. Since I this is my first winter with the bimmer, I figured I'd give ONR a shot.

NJ got a few inches of snow this Saturday and I had been driving around in it (BTW, coming from a Jeep, the xi was impressive). As you can imagine, my car was cover in salt and road muck when I woke Sunday morning.

Using a Home Depot grout sponge, two bucket wash method, and ONR, my car came out GREAT. I was truely, truely shocked at how easily the grout sponge and ONR sucked up the dirt and salt. I was extra gentle to make sure I wasn't marring the paint. It helped that I had done a full detail the previous weekend.

This is just another testiment on how amazing this product is. Especially when it's cold outside. It feels good to know that I will have a clean car all winter long!

Ive used this a handful of times already and I'm sold on it as well.
Coming from a Jet Black owner, we know what scratches paint.

As long as your car is not heavily soiled, its safe to use.

I wouldnt use it on heavily soiled car personally, but you can be the judge on your own car.

I really like using this stuff when my car needs a freshen up but is not entirely dirty. Especially if im going to get into my car immiedetly after and drive, it allows me not to worry about any drips from crevices as there is no substantial amount of water used.

We all know how much the side view mirrors, sideskirts, and license plate (and even tailights) like to drip for hours even days sometimes.

2 Bucket method is a must BTW.

Glad everyone is liking it. I've been using it for years without an issue. I honestly think it's the single best car care (detailing) product on the market. And don't forget to use it with warm water in both buckets during the winter time. It works just as well, and your hands don't freeze.

I used it for the first time yesterday, and I'm completely sold. I performed my winter prep after - clay, hand polish, seal.

I'm going to do it again tonight so I can apply a nice layer of wax.

Yup, ONR rocks. Once winter starts rolling in, I'll probably bring it to a touchless to get the car clean-ish, then ONR it quick in the driveway. That's the plan, anyway.

That's not a bad idea. I'm sure there's going to be times this winter when my car is absolutely caked in salt.

And yes, two bucket method is a must. As well as warm. Just ordered a grit guard so that should help against scratching.

I've done it in years past and it works out well. ONR is amazing, but when there's caked on salt and sand after driving 65 miles through snow, it needs a rinse first. The regular touchless + undercarriage then an ONR wash has it looking just as good as it does in the summer - until the next warm day or snow storm.

I agree with with the 2 bucket method. I am very pleased with the results I get on my Jet Black car as well. I just bought a new bottle of it from detailed image

Water Conservation / Usage Restrictions

Due to water usage restrictions in a (very) few more years the waterless wash will be the only legal way to wash vehicles. The environmental protection agency (EPA) is going to continue to put restrictions to conserve our lessening water resources, which will put an end to traditional car washings methods.

Based on an estimated 32-billion gallons of fresh water consumed annually in the USA to wash cars (both commercially and at home), that’s approximately enough to supply the drinking water for the US for a year, the conservation of such a valuable resource make perfect sense, we should all do our part in this.

Our Water Supply, Down the Drain - http://************/mjtfjb

Optimum No Rinse™ Wash & Shine

To the list of oxymorons add - the sunless tan, cheese less pizza, soap-free detergent and the no-water carwash.

An innovative product that protects automotive paint, while preserving our most valuable resource, water; enabling you to wash your car anywhere, anytime even inside your garage. It’s a multi-purpose product that serves as a shampoo additive, no rinse wash, quick detailer and clay lubricant.

I am also a recent convert...I have a heated garage and luv using on my huge SUV...I also do the touch-less wash first..

Also, am a Zaino cult member and technique is drag the waffle microfiber towel across the paint, then spray with some Z-6 and then use a seperate cotton towel to dry...this really helps prevent any marring

My only concern is that my lamb wash mitt is turning gray...seems that it is not releasing the dirt... any other thoughts on this

Use a grout sponge. Detailed Image had a grout sponge on special the other day, or use the one below -- available at Lowe's and very good.

It will turn a bit darker, but it releases ONR dirt much better than a towel or mitt, which never seem the same following ONR. When you're done, use a little liquid soap afterward and wash it out in the sink. Use a separate sponge dedicated for the wheels, because it will much grimier.

ONR works great with a grout sponge. Just make sure the sponge is very wet and it will be very soft. Like any wash medium, glide it along to lift off the surface, don't use pressure.

Big +1 to that, grout sponges are the way to go with ONR. The Lowes ones are cheap and excellent.

Small bucket, demoted grout sponge, and a few caps of ONR - maybe about 2 gallons of water. Works great, that bucket and sponge is used exclusively on the wheels and will never come into contact with the paint.

Cool...I use the DI blue grout sponge for my rocker panels and have a good supply of new ones...

Just used ONR first time today. Took about an hr including setting up the mixtures. Used 2 2.5gal buckets, one with 2oz ONR and one with 1/2oz (for rinsing). The 1/2 gal spray bottle was mixed with 1/2oz ONR for soaking and prewash. Washed with synthetic wash mit and Lowe's grout sponge. Dried with microfiber towels. Worked very well and was nice using warm water in 37degree temperature to wash the car :-). There weren't any swirls created by the ONR. However, there are some light swirls from previous washing, will have to wait until Spring to detail it

Tried it for the first time yesterday. I definitely think the car needs to be sprayed off first, or at least some onr solution sprayed on and allowed to dwell. Rubbing a wet mit over a dry, dirty car did not sit well with me.

I make extra portions and poor the solution onto the car, and so far it works well, i don't notice any new swirls. But I wash mine weekly so it never gets too dirty. I also take it to a touchless car wash after they put salt on roads, primarily for underbody though.

if you are really worried, get a new sponge for every wash. I didn't like how the sponge/microfiber clothes change colors after the wash, but better on the sponge and cloth than paint.

It is just me, or does everyone else also feel that ONR makes the car shinier than a regular wash - like the conventional way? I use CG body wash and the two bucket method, but the shine with ONR is much nicer.
