ASR out of business ?
I'm wondering if any if you south Florida locals know if ASR engineering Inc. went out of business. I made a deposit on turbos but decided to cancel the order two days after. I gave them a 2750 dollar deposit before I cancelled my order. They then told me it will take a couple days to get my refund. It's been a month and Ive called them a million times and emailed them 5 times with no response. In two days Visa despute department will get involved. Just giving you guys the heads up not to do business with
these guys if I'm having these problems. Any SOFLA guys please chime in.

Not that I know of. I know where they're shop is located and have friends near by who can drive past it to see since i live about 45 minutes away from them.
did you try PMing them here? you can also go on M5board since they are more active on that board.

It's absurd that they owe me 2750 dollars. This is about a company who owes me a refund and I would think they were going out of business because they haven't answered my calls or emails for about a month. Maybe u can contact them for me?

i'm pretty sure you wouldn't be saying it was an absurd thread if they had $2750 of your money...

Accounts recievables doesn't have to consist of 100 people in order to be a proper and legitimate department that handles specific transactions and aspects of their business. Would you prefer he say, "I spoke to Janice and she said we switched merchant processors...". What I can say, considering I work in the merchant processing industry, you can have a hard time getting to your money if you change merchant processors and various other situations that will prevent you from issuing a refund directly. Even if ASR has a billion dollars in their bank account, you can't issue that money back as a refund to a card without the processors permission to issue from your reserve account or merchant account. And they would be foolish to pay you out cash because you could still charge them back. Even if they won the chargeback, the number of chargebacks you recieve, regardless the result of the claim, will stack up on you. Eventually this has a detrimental effect on your status with them. Even a typical refund issue can take a week sometimes two. Give them a chance and your expectation of better communication is probably correct and justified. My solution, would be to just get the damn turbo upgrade. Glad to hear he got back to you. If he really was out of business, he wouldn't call you back or give a shit since he wouldn't have to worry about it. Companies that accept visas have a reserve with the processor. In other words, the more money you process on a card, the bigger your reserve must be and its all in relation to your chargeback ratio and other things. So if they do take your card, then you can know they have a reserve line. So if they were to go out of business, the processor will freeze that reserve line and will not release it to ASR for about 6+ months. This gives people like you the opportunity to charge back and put your claim in. The scare tactic of businesses taking your money on a visa and running is non-existent. All businesses with merchant accounts have reserves for situations like this. And your 2750 would certainly be protected under that if you were in fact not to receive a product from them, the product they stated. In other words, don't worry about it and always pay with a card. |
