HPFP CEL, which dealership is best on Long Island

I recently had my check engine light come on about 2 weeks ago. I had been having long cranks once a week, this time was a long crank and finally the CEL stayed on. Went to Park Ave BMW since I was in the area and they read a code of Fc - 2FBF? Not sure if thats the code but that is the only type on the sheet.
The sheet also says:
CEL is on
FC -2FBF - Fuel pressure on release of injection
Not PResent at this TIme - long cranking
Cannot duplicate long cranking
Due to the holiday weekend, and the fact they aren't close to me to leave my car they, they ended up clearing the code and I drove off. Car was driving fine, long starts became more frequent but never threw a code again. Today I dropped my car off at Habberstad BMW. They said based on the printout from Park Ave BMW it would not warrant a replacement. They based a replacement upon my complaining of long cranks.

I thought once a code is thrown related to the HPFP it will be replaced? I never had limp mode, but have had much more frequent long cranks, almost once a day to once every 2 days. Dealership just called me saying the car will not be done today, and they are still doing more diagnostic testing.
Thats not the part I hate entirely. I got a crappy non bmw loaner because it looks like their loaners are through Avis. Hassel BMW, where I bought my car from, requires you to be 25 to get a BMW loaner, or loaner in general.

But my basic question is, what does it take for the dealership to replace the HPFP? Does it require a limp mode, and complete failure of the HPFP so I am stranded and they will finally replace it? Is Habberstad BMW service just not good? This will probably be the first and last time I go there. Had a horrible experience in sales.

if your dealership is a smart one and/or reasonable one...all they are gonna need to hear is a long crank to have it replaced...about a 3hour job for my dealer...ive gone through 9 so they know the drill...wouldnt worry too much about it...worse case scenario they have your car 1 day overnight....thats all

Park Ave BMW also said there was a code related to oil, but they did not put it on the printout. I am paying to get my oil changed at habberstad, but I am wondering if Park Ave BMW provides me with that other code, if it warrants an oil change using the warranty work, would another dealership cover it? Or once a code is cleared only the dealership aware of it will take care of it? I don't mind paying for the oil change, but if it is something that could be covered it would be nice.
Has anyone heard of something related to low oil viscosity? I did not have a low oil level light, and no symptoms related to low oil pressure. Right now my SA at park ave is busy so I can't have that code pulled up for me.

yea. I'll try again later to reach the SA to see what the code was. It was something I never heard of.

The reason I did not go to Hassel was due to their loaner policy. I would need my mom there since I am under 25, and its hard to sync our schedules. I'll be going to hassel for the 1st covered service interval, or next problem that won't happen hopefully.

Really wow. I couldn't even test drive AFTER i ordered the car to be built because of their 25 policy. I am 22, I guess I will give them a shot next time and call.
Also online they said the next available date was about 2 weeks. I didn't bother calling. Bad mistake on my end.

Well, are you complaining about a loaner or the service @ Habberstad?!

No dealer would give a 22yo a BMW loaner MOST likely. Especially if you didn't buy the car from them...

I have the same exact situation as you except no CEL yet. I'm going in to Habberstad thursday. I've been getting frequent long cranks. It should not be a problem to get it changed, they do extend the Warranty for HPFP till 10years 120K or something like that.

Also My SA there said It has to do with the higher levels of ethanol during winter mos.

complaining about a mix of both. annoyed at the fact that they promised the car back today if they had the HPFP in stock, considering I brought in proof of a CEL related to it. Now I get a call at the end of the day saying they need it overnight to do more diagnostic tests for a cold start to produce a long crank. Maybe it is standard procedure, but the crappy loaner which I am complaining about does not make the situation any better. Had I been given a better car, even a better non bmw, I wouldn't be complaining nor on edge without my car.
He did not even ask for my ID when requesting a loaner, and sent me right over to the Avis desk they have. along with every other customer.
On their website it states their large fleet of BMW loaners, with no other information.
So despite proof of a failing HPFP, they want to hear a long crank, which it may not happen.

Has anybody ever tried giving video, or audio evidence of a long crank?

09 hasnt had the extension of the warranty for the HPFP yet. Not that I know of.
