Test drove the C63 today ......WOW
i went today with my cousin to Mercedes of fort lauderdale to trade in his sl550 for a c63 i happen to talk to a women named Jessica that "LOVES SPEED" in her own words lol.So my cousin is driving this thing and i couldnt help but ask to drive, i jumped in the drivers seat threw that thing in manual mode and beat the living hell outta that car. From what i see its pretty quick low end but for some reason my jb3 e90 feels more faster low end,i hit the highway so i could check out the top end on this car and man does this thing pull hard this is def a highway car ,top end has an amazing pull to it and i hit 120 like it was nothing......If anyone is considering this car over an M3 you should def take it into a bigger consideration.I took this thing through the twisties and the handling it pretty amazing with traction on
Pros. Amazing power top end,Beautiful exterior styling, safety features galore,Awesome navi,Nice interior and most of all (for me) comfortable ride. Con/s. Low end is less than expexted, all in all i will give this car a 10 of 10

Wow, you give 10 out of 10 for a 60k or more car that does not have an LSD and a manual tranny? I guess to each of his own.
Thanks for the story. |

![]() C63 is a monster, I've driven one. I'm just not into the Merc AMG scene. No MT really kills it for me. The exhaust note on that thing is stellar though.

...yes it is as idiotic as the Z8 with no LSD, at least Merc didn't advertise the car as if it does have LSD.

i dig monsterness.
i also dig calm controlled cornering like the m3. ... brutish monster wins. ![]() (for moi) this is a HEAVILY opinion based class... m3 vs rs4 vs c63, of course the m3 is the best around a track ![]()

The best thing about AMGs anymore is the exhaust note...there is nothing like it. Otherwise, MB's attempt at making a proper M type car...meh.

We have one. It takes a few thousand miles to really bring out the power in the engine imo (going by the buttdyno).
The transmission is fine. You can smash it into the rev limiter all day without it shifting up. There are two things I don't like about the transmission though. One, there's a larger amount of delay between input/execution that's below par for the lightning fast standards set by today's DCTs. Two, you can't stack shift commands, but you can hold the left paddle and it will consecutively and rapidly downshift to the lowest gear. The interior has a very functional feel. It lacks the warm, flowing lines of the E9X, it doesn't come with any colorful combinations, and the large cover panel that stretches across the top of the dash and beneath the windows is inexcusably hard feeling. However, in contrast to the E9X, the whole interior feels like it's hewn out of granite, even after 20k miles (my E92 had a million squeaks and rattles by that point). The exterior is subjective. I grew to love the look over time. It's butch, like a german musclecar almost. I wish they did something else with the front bumper though. As much as I love the rabid piranha/predator look, it just looks like they crammed a lot of the features together, kind of fussy looking. Seats > M3's. Period. Exhaust > M3's.

C'mon Hot, for real? I dunno...I think it's exaggerated by the mags (and Clarkson). It's definitely not as easy to balance mid-corner; you can feel the wheels working harder as the weight shifts around, like on a curving hwy ramp, but it's not difficult to drive. The handling is exceptional in comparison to the shit AMG was pumping out a half decade ago.

Tires last about 6-10k miles. And our car is rarely driven aggressively.

It's not even like his opinion matters. The show is the opposite of factual. It's damn good entertainment, but whenever he gets around to reviewing a car I know about, it's like he's an idiot.
And their concept of "racing" consists of drifting through every corner. I still love him though.

I have one, along with a 335i and I can say that as a driver I feel more connected and physically in control of the steering wheel in the BMW but the C63 definitely has a smoother, more planted ride in the turns with less body roll. The tuned 335i also seems to rev more freely especially on the low end but with the C63, the power delivery is continuously massive and really comes alive in the higher RPMs. Like another poster said, this thing is a monster on the highway and really climbs up in speed effortlessly. I can't wait to see what an ECU flash and longtube headers will do for the car.
Exterior wise, I don't think the E92 silhouette can be beat, but the C63 is an attractive, aggressive looking sedan. It's definitely an aesthetic you grow to love over time, with the snarling front bumper and the signature oval quads poking out of the rear diffuser. For the most part, I'm unimpressed by the interior. The only things that seem to stick out as worthy of the AMG moniker are the seats and steering wheel, with the former being superior to the M3 seats. The AMG seats just hug you like racing seats would but don't make you feel cramped at all. Moreover, the exhaust note of the C63 destroys that of my tuned 335i as well as that of the M3. Downshifting becomes addictive and you never grow tired of the 6.2L V8 growl. Shifting however, does take some time to get used to as it's not as responsive as the paddles on my 335i let alone a DCT transmission on the M3. The tach just doesn't seem as willing to move back and forth as it does on my 335i. Hopefully a tune can address that issue. *Sorry for the long rant guys, just pointing out some of my thoughts on the C63 as someone who also owns a 335i.

Thanks for the honest opinion Boost.
I'm in the process of selling my 997S and am looking at an E90 (sedan), the E92M3 (coupe) and the C63. Real world honest non fanboi experience with these cars is greatly appreciated. |
