To buy or not to buy?

Considering this watch. I can get it at a pretty good deal. 40% off retail value and it's brand new. It's the http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collecti...=CJ1112.BA0576.

What are your thoughts on this? Just not sure what the overall satisfaction of a TAG is from all the current owners and does this break easy? Sucky battery life etc.

My first Tag is going on almost 3 years and have not yet needed to change the battery. Think the battery life is avg 2 years.
Pretty happy with my first Tag so I went and bought an automatic Tag few months back. Thing I like about the Tags are they are sporty yet classy at the same time.

My only piece of advice is that if you want it bad enough, go for it man.

I've got a TAG Indy 500 that I've had for about 5 years now. I've changed the battery twice in that time, but I've also had to spend about $350 to have it repaired. For a watch that was $800 new, it was tough to spend that much to have it fixed after 4 years. $350 to fix a Carrera that costs $3,500 might be more palatable, but still....

One of the small dials wasn't resetting properly and then the crown came completely out. I was without the watch for about 12 weeks total, since when it came back the first time, it still wasn't fixed properly. It was sent back and fixed, supposedly, but then I noticed a small piece of crystal floating on the dial, so back it went again. It took TAG 3 times to get it right, and I was never offered any sort of compensation for all the hassle.

It is still my everyday watch, but I'm not sure I'd buy another TAG. To TAG's credit, they do offer a 2 year warranty, whereas Rolex only offers 1 year.....

Tiger Woods endorsed TAG. I used to like TAG but now I'm not so sure if I want to be associated with that.

Link is a classy watch. If you haven't already, get a good look at the different faces (blue, black and white) at the same time. I absolutely love my Monaco CAW2111 and you even get a sapphire crystal face which is more scratch resistant for daily use than the basic crystal face in my Monaco (where the sapphire is used only in the back).

I have a Link Automatic Chronograph CFJ2110, +1 to the sapphire face. This is my daily wear watch and the face is in perfect condiction despite a bit of abuse that shows on the bezel.

40% is pretty good, I'd say go for it.

Are you looking to buy this at Bailey, Banks, and Biddle by chance?

My Tag F1 is going on 2 years and still runs great. I've dropped it and hit it against walls and other things so many times and not once has it failed me. They are solid timepieces.

It looks nice so if you like it just buy it. You can always return it if you change your mind.

That was the reason that I asked the question. Most of their stuff is 50-60% off, but their Tags in particular are 40% off now.

I was just in a mall in Dallas; Whenever I'm there I always go into BB&B (seems like they have been going out of business forever) because they sometimes get fresh stock from other stores. I saw that exact watch in there yesterday, 40% off.

Of course, all sales are final.

Not a fan of Tag's, their quality is questionable when compared to other higher end watches. And also If I were going to spend that much money it's surly would not be a quartz watch. I'd recommend an Omega, Breitling, or even an Oris over a Tag.

Nope! I'm getting it from a local vendor. I've never heard of B&B.

For those of you who already own a TAG, how easy is it to scratch the face. I'm not going to take a nail to it or anything but I wanted to know if the face was indeed scratch resistant like they say it is.

I actually considered getting a Breitling or Rolex but I'm a fairly young man (26). The people I work with are extremely humble despite their salaries and I went on a limb buying a BMW. Don't want to give the wrong impression by purchasing a $5000 + watch. Just seemed like $1350 was a steal and the watch seemed decent. I picked up the watch at the sale price only because the sale period was ending. So I have the watch, just deciding now if I want to keep it or not.

I'm leaning towards keeping it though. I like the fact that it's a chrono and the blue face looks pretty clean.

What are your thoughts?

BTW thanks to all of you who have already replied! Really appreciate it!

My TAG has been worn daily for 5 years (minus the repair time of course), and I haven't always been good about taking it off while doing home projects or working on the car. The sapphire crystal is still flawless! Not a single scratch....
