mirror/homelink

Do your homelink buttons stop working after your ignition is turned off?

At first I thought it was annoying that my engine had to be running to open my garage door. Then, I realized it was designed that way to prevent people from breaking into the car and opening my garage door.
But then again!, they should have made the buttons work when the accessories are turned on. The accessories can't be turned on without a key in the car right?

It should work when you have all the accesories turned on, without the engine on

Put the key in the slot, and some things turn on
Now push the start button without your foot on the brake for a auto/without foot on the clutch for a manual.
All your accesories are now on without the engine started

Your homelink should work now, well atleast mine does.

No.. my week old 335i does the same. I tested it tonight. I left my electric gate open and pushed the button with only accessories turned on and nothing. Started the car and pushed the button and it worked. Turned off the car and tried again and does not work. Evidently the mirror controls are not on accessory.

If its that big of a burdon, you can probably just tap into another power wire and it'll work. No one will be the wiser except for you.
