Question on General ECU-map's... EvoTech

Ok guys, so I've been looking around the forum and read some very interesting things...

EvoTech -- first came out w/ their remapped ECU claiming approximately +40hp... after independent dyno's it seems that the actual numbers are more around +20 to 25hp...

IMO, for $900, that's not a bad deal... Considering many exhausts run for more than $1000.

When I had my rx-8 and was in the final stages of NA tuning, I bought an after-market ECU claiming around +20-25hp... after some time passed, more info on the ecu came out, and when i put the unit in myself, i was actually looking at around... conservatively saying... less then 10 ponies... A lot of tuners got their 20hp or so, but that was after heavy tuning... they had to find the most efficient AF ratio's.. etc. The rx8 ran extremely rich due to their high revving rotors, so a lot of HP was gained from running real lean...

Anyway, here are my questions...

1. Is the Evotech (the one in technik's website) the only ecu out there?
2. Is it plug and play, or do i have to tune it, etc... b/c if i have to tune, i really want to stray away from it...
3. How difficult is the install? For the RX8, i just had to take off the ECU case, fit the unit in after switching out the harnesses, etc... basically straight plug and play...
4. Is there any problems with knocking, pinging, etc?
5. Safety is key... will my engine life detoriorate? I know that the 325 runs the same engine as the 330i, except the 330 runs a more aggressive map from the factory, the exhaust is different, along with a few components to the airdam/filter, etc...

Any info out there guys?

I was under the impression that the software on technik's site was completly different from the evotech software... Where did you hear that?

Now if a claimed 40 hp increase turns out to be +20 hp in actuality for the 325i,...a guy like me with a 330i realizes that a "claimed 15-20 hp" increase may be more like a 7.5 to 12 hp increase, which is why I would not buy this particular item that has NOT been publically dyno'd.

in the official evotech thread... w/ a million pages/posts...

and technik claims +25. they're a pretty reputable company... so i doubt they'd be "fibbing" too much.

but do these ecu's require tuning?
