Debadging

Looking to debadge my 320d tomorrow, anyone know where I could pick up some adhesive remover in time? I don't know what to buy really - looks like 3m stuff is sold out of most websites for some reason.

I've got some of this:

I use it for removing heatsinks from the insides of pc's. It certainly doesn't smell STRONG, but I dont want to go dabbing it on my car incase it brings the paint off or something!

Any ideas?

pledge polish and some elbow grease.

oh right really? so just spray a load over it, get the hair dyer on the go and try sliding some dental floss down the back? Is that about as technical as it gets?

Dental floss, followed by Autoglym Tar Remover and then a polish !

+1 for lighter fluid.

The guys who put the vinyl signage on my van used lighter fuel to "degrease" it first and say they swear by it.

It's water based paint same as the cars and probably much thinner but didn't harm the van. (2 years old now and still ok)
I just gave it a coat of sealer and waxed it afterwards.

i debadged mine a while back, looks much smarter at the back now, although i was thinking about getting a new 318d badge just to be a cock on the motorways! LOL

1.Use dental floss to remove the badge (between the badge and the adhesive)
2.The residue will come off relatively easily with Goo Gone.
3. clean and re wax the area....done!

Well it's done... looks loads better

I sprayed a load of pledge on the badge to start with then put the hair drier on it for about 10 seconds and worked dental floss behind - badges came off easy.

Then did similar process with the sticky residue. I used a similar "goo gone" product too, which worked a hell of a lot better. It wasn't made much easier by the fact a blizzard started half way through.

i'll post pics as soon as i get my exhaust done tomorrow!
