Folding mirrors

Seems like my 3er doesnt like the cold...as i hopped into my car this morning both mirrors unfolded...however the passenger mirror didnt stop and continued to fold outwards so now its facing out!! locked it and they both came back in...now each time i unlock...the passenger mirror keeps going past its parking position and faces out...any clues ? thanks...

A complete guess but there must be some sort of a limit switch that might be frozen in or out and thats why they don't stop. I would think when the mirror warms the heat off that would have fixed it unless the switch has packed up!
