Righto, seriously thinking about remapping the 335d now that its two years old. Lining up insurance with Adrian Flux so that Im covered with the ecu mod, any last thoughts before I go ahead? Is there anyone out there that has remapped and thought they'd made the wrong decision?

I've had 4 remapped turbo cars - its essential IMO - no problems at all encountered

You will love it, the 335d is ridiculously fast when remapped, hilariously so.

I had my 120d done by DMS a couple of years ago and that was bonkers too.

Im doing around 6-8k a year at the moment, wanting to release its full potential. Just gotta get the finances balanced (and justify it to the other half! - Im sure I can create a spreadsheet that shows a "saving" by spending the money and getting a better fuel economy! i run a 335d myself, weve sold 3 CRD-T's onto 335d' In the last 2 weeks as well as 2 audi 3.0TDI'S

Weve been running a xCRDT Long term on a customers 231pS 330D And he cant praise it enough..

As soon as my car runs out of its warranty im seriously considering a remap, it makes sense as i drive around 15k-20k a year.. and i wanna do them quickly !

been considering emaps or evolve...seems like the best cost/quality option i think.

andrew what are the potential gains with the CRD-T's on a 335d? had the car on a dyno yet?

I bought an Evolve Switch and set it up today - worst day i could have picked as all its done is snow and I have a permanent flashing yellow traction warning light

Roll on some clear roads

Bought the switch yesterday, arrived today, followed the instructions and it was remapped within 2 hours

What about visibility - if I understand correct the evolve switch doesnt show up on diagnostics when reloading the original map for any service work. Does the tuning box shout its presence?

I reckon it's worthwhile, having recently just got a Bluefin remap for my 330d.

With all the snow I've not been able to fully try it out yet in the lower gears, but I can tell its quite a bit more responsive, and performance feels very strong in the higher gears on the motorway.

On the minus side I did previously get a 2.0 TDi Audi remapped and found it introduced a flat-spot at certain revs and the extra torque resulted in the clutch slipping. I also had issues with the turbo, and the remap probably didnt help matters..

Clearly extra power and torque is going to increase stress on the drive-train, clutch, gearbox, turbo etc.

Overall I'd say it's hard to resist a remap on a turbo car, but IMO it's only just worth £400.

I think this is the only time of year i'm glad I waited to get my remap. My Traction control is going nuts as it is, I can't imagine how I would have coped dealing with a remap!

That said, if I had the box I suppose I could easily flip between stock and remap...

I'm telling myself its an excuse to wait!

The re-map is invisible, where as the box is physical.. My advice regarding the box would be to remove it before going to the dealers, should only take you 10 minutes..Once the box is removed there are no signs left behind at all..

If youre going for a re-map id recommend Evolve, but again even if i was using their method id revert the car back to standard before going back to the stealers, as all you need is some anal technician to drive your car and think to himself "this is quick, i wonder if its been re-mapped" and this is where your potential problems could occur..

My advice would be to remove either box or re-map via the evolve switch before heading back to the stealers

Ill drop you a pm regarding costings of the CRD-T as im eager to have more feedback on the system and this would result in even greater savings against rrp

The only 35d engined vehicle weve had rolling roaded was an 800 mile old X5 that produced an extra 55bhp and 90lbft of torque, this was using the CRD2 system which is common rail only...

From my own experience, and feedback from customers who've tried the CRD2 then moved onto the CRD-T that there are gains to be had over the CRD2 when using the CRD-T

Germany rolling roaded an X5 again with a CRD2 module only (not CRD-T) and saw 340bhp but not as much torque,... 340bhp and 660nm of torque..

I have Evolved mine (350Hp/730Nm). It's impressive.

Just had a look at another thread at this forum with lesser numbers which hit 300 km/h on the speedometer.

I got my new 335 M Sport about a month and half ago and found that quick but also bought an Evolve Switch as i liked the idea of switching between standard and mapped when/if i wanted to.

The difference is hard to describe but it makes the car really fly when you floor it but at the same time makes the car more drivable at normal town speeds and gives a little better mpg.

I grinned like a Chesire cat when i 1st got the car when flooring it but grinned like never before after the remap.

I'm also seriously considering getting my car mapped....only thing stopping me is the thought of the extra stresses on the turbos and drivetrain (manual)
It would be interesting to see how these engines hold up compared to stock after a few years and what problems if any arise.
