Draining washer fluid
Had a few friends round today and one of them asked for a drive of my car now its been remapped.
He's insured under his own trader policy so I said "Sure, nip to the garage and buy me some pre made washer fluid, its empty" He comes back 15 mins later rather sheepish and said; "I've filled it up but made a boo boo, I bought Adblue by mistake" turns out this is some kind of additive for Trucks!?!? Any ideas on how to drain it out without sitting for an hour running it through the system by holiday the washer jet button down? |

Remove bumper, remove tank, drain it.
Adblue is the urea supplement that is used in conjunction with the new diesel engines.

Jesus!!!! Still, it's an easy mistake to make!
Don't run it through the washer system whatever you do - best to drain and flush the system.

Also, wouldn't holding down the pump for an hour burn out the motor?
I had a similar problem the other day, although I just needed to get rid of a few litres of water. I just kept pressing it for a few seconds on my drive to work after it had melted. Anyway I would definitely recommend draining this rather than pulling through the system. What a pain in the arse for you though! |

Also better to use BMW screenwash.
The blue holts etc will eventually clog up the filter (which is at the bottom of the tank) and either burn the pump or will need removal of wheel arch liner to access and clear it! Both labour intensive (well 1-2hrs) and a painfully stupid design. Stick to the clear BMW washer fluid. |

Flick me, I only ever let the best of friends drive my
car. I'd never let them fill anything up on it though. I like to know what "I'm" putting in and how much. What did the numpty fuck think to the performance then ?! P.s I still can't get over how he actually screwed up.

you want to be a bit careful with Adblue. The stuff does not attack plastic and stainless steel, but can be harmful to about anything else. It's an about 34% or so amonia solution in water. When the water goes (evaporates) it builds rock hard crystals
For any details on the tank search on Meth injection and washer tank, someone did a review on using this tank for that with good pictures. If it was me i would stick a garden hose all the way into the fill opening (needs to go in at leats 10" as a rough guess) , open the tap gently, let it mix and overflow, rinse off what comes out with a second hose, and repeat that some 20 times. You're only alternative seems to be taking the right front wing panel off.. |

I wonder if this piss would shave another 0.5sec off the DXB's 1/4 mile time?

I don't see it will do much harm, just a nice cleaning of the screenwash tank :-)
I'd suggest if you have a Karcher or similar to put the inlet hose into the screenwash tank, pump it out then flush it through with water and top up with the right screenwash. |

You could do with a cheap water pump. I had battery operated from my camping days and I think you can get 12v ones for about £20.
http://www.camping-caravan-outdoors....f.asp?item=520 Attach some thin flexible tubing to the inlet and feed into the jetwash tank and voila! Sounds like you've probibly syphoned most of the crap out anyhow. |
