Mother Progman giveth and taketh away

Just had my June 05 build E90 with iDrive updated to something Progman-ish 22.X or higher.

I must say it blows me away that the car's behavior can be changed through programming updates. I really love that...it's like the E90 is a digital device with wheels instead of a car with a computer.

But...as with any software update there's stuff I love and stuff I hate.

Here's my list...I invite others to add theirs.

Pros:

Nag screen goes away by itself (hurray!)
Re-starting the car with a destination active simply restarts assistance
Voice recognition now understands a native English speaker

Cons:

That new font...where'd they get THAT from? Wal-Mart?
Navigation always starts with voice prompts on
No parked-car ventilation in early build E90s
No DRL option in iDrive for early build E90s
That font! Where'd they get that from? Target?

Hey, I actually like the font! It squeezes more letters per line (which is great for my mp3 cd's). I usually have my filenames set up as "artist - song title.mp3", so the more letters the better.

someone posted a screenshot of the fonts.. it looks okay, doesn't bother me too much.. don't have the link handy tho..

i know i have the old font but how do i find out what version i have? I have a july 06 build.

I don't have navi screen so I don't know what font you are taling about. But I think it is the "Chris Bangle" font only available on bmw

LOL.... sounding more & more like Microsoft service packs

- sometimes they screw up more than they fix

I have posted these pictures before.

I, too, didn't like the font, but after about a month or so. I get used to it. I agree that the new font shows more letters in one line which is good for mp3 display and the long street names.

Not sure how you can list these as cons. You make it seem as if the features disappeared or something. Early E90s simply don´t have these features.

Wait a minute so that lawyer screen where you have to hit accept goes away automatically? That's the greatest thing I've ever heard.

They updated my E90 a month or so ago. I noticed the new font and didn't like it at first, but if you look closely, the nav screen fonts now match the font used for the speedo, tach and other lettering on the instrument cluster and dash.

I guess the font doesn't look that different.

The menus are structured differently, but I tried to take similar photos for comparison to those above. Here are a bunch of photos from mine. There are many of them, but these are pretty compressed, so they shouldn't bog down the thread too much.
