Pacific BMW's Parts Department

As a new 335i owner, I made my first visit to Pacific BMW in Glendale today to pick up a few miscellaneous parts.

I was surprised to find the parts department looked more like an airport gift shop than what I'm accustomed to at other dealer parts departments. I had to ask twice to confirm that I was really (really?) in parts, and that they could sell me a car part... as opposed to a BMW t-shirt or key fob.

The youngster (in his early 20s) assured me that I was indeed in the right place. He got the part numbers from his computer and called into the back for someone to bring the items up front to the showroom... I mean the parts department.

Not complaining, really. The service was speedy and friendly. But I'd prefer ordering car parts from a grizzled gearhead who had dirt under his fingernails and knew the difference between a carburetor and an intercooler.

I also noticed a sign showing their labor rates: $150/hour. Ouch!

OTOH, there was another sign next to the coffee machine in the customer lounge: "This machine requires more maintenance than a BMW." Let's hope!!!

Anyone have any opinions about Pacific, positive or negative?

$150/hour is the normal rate I've seen at various dealerships in SoCal.

I've been going to Pacific ever since E90post member Matt quit his career as a BMW tech at another dealership. Good visits from me at Pacific, no complaints.

Their waiting area/parts department is also a lot better than some of the dealerships I've seen...where it's just a counter.

I'd rather have a hot chick at the counter not a dude with dirt in his nails and "oops, I dropped that pen... shoot!" then you see his asscrack... rather than "OH MY GOSH! I dropped my pen, let me grab that and she bends forward and you see down her shirt then turns around and you see her thong

but you got what you wanted and you said the service was "speedy and friendly" so just...

Coming from the Nissan world, $150/hour just seems a bit high. Luckily I won't have to pay that rate for awhile yet...

Eventually I'll be looking to hook up with a service advisor at Pacific. Anyone in particular you could recommend?

Lol to Arny. Pacific usually has a cute Hispanic chick working in the parts section.

Last Friday I was making an appointment for late January to address my HPFP issues. I asked for a loaner (she asked if I purchased my car from Pacific- I said yes), was put on hold and when the attendant came back she indicated that the service manager would not allow me to have a loaner. I indicated I purchased my '08 E93 from them and asked why could I not have a loaner? I was put on hold for a LONG time. She returned and indicated that yes, I will get a loaner. What was that all about? I'm not feeling good about them, even before they work on the car!

I always go with Hassan. From the first time I came through, he said nice wheels. (I have silver aftermarket wheels with no lip so a lot of people think they are stock).

On the invoice, he got a black sharpie and wrote "please don't curb the wheels" to reassure that the tech won't do it. He did this after he told me about how a customer complained about a similar issue.

I have gotten about 4-5 loaners from them. All were base E90, except for one time. I guess the people who were suppose to return the loaners didn't and they had no more. They drove me to the rental place down the street and they put me in a Mustang, lol.

That car is craptastic. From the plastic interior to the blind spots.

There was a lady who got the ride with me to get a car as well. She was super pissed. She had brought in a B7 and she got a Ford Escape as a rental.

I personally don't really care much about the car I get, just needs to get to places with it.

I don't even want to start with the loaner car bs from Pacific BMW. I've always had them service my car and I always ask for a loaner, they ask if i purchased the vehicle from them and ofcourse I did. They makes it such a hassle to just have a loaner car reserved for me. Last week I had my car serviced there again but this time they ran out of loaner cars and as much as I didn't want to go without one I just agreed and had my friend pick me up. Its just so stupid how they don't have enough loaner cars for customers who choose them to get their car serviced when we could go to just about any other BMW dealership.

Now, Crevier on the other hand, have a large amount of loaner cars and many different models. I've seen them let customer's push around in a e92 328, z4, e90 335i, x3. If Pacific BMW wants to keep their customers, they better step their game up because I'm beginning to really be willing to sacrifice the drive from LA to OC just go be sure I'll be put in a loaner and not some crappy base 3 series with no moonroof again.

Damn that sucks I've always left with a loaner and I don't even make an appointment half the time.

Did you buy your car from Pacific? Based on other replies, getting a loaner there seems to depend on whether you got your car there or not. Not sure if that's the policy at other dealers as well.

I got mine from Rusnak way out in Thousand Oaks -- much further than I'm willing to drive for service, even if they did give me a loaner...

Kiddo - Same question for you: did you buy your car from Pacific?

Trying to figure out if I'm SOL when it comes to getting a loaner since I didn't buy from them.

I purchased my car from Pacific BMW. I wasn't as concerned about getting a bimmer...I just wanted a free loaner...something I've never had an issue with other BMW dealers. I've heard from some dealers that they typically give a loaner only if it is a normal scheduled service or a warranty issue. But one would think that a failing fuel pump, (multiple times), is a warranty issue...not to mention that I'm going to return it also for the squeeky wheel syndrome...which will probably not go away. Another issue I have is that I have the Stage I Dinan remap...is that going to affect my warranty with the fuel pump issue? I've asked this before but no one specifically with Dinan has responded. Has anyone out there with hpfp issues and after-market remaps or chips had issues with replacing the fuel pump? Any hope for me? Thanks.
