for all the tax experts present (Massachusetts)
When I itemize deductions on my federal return for 2009, can I include my 2009 Massachusetts vehicle excise tax and 2009 Massachusetts registration fees?
I know that if you bought a new vehicle in 2009 (between specific dates) you can write off the sales tax, excise tax, etc. But, that's not for me. I bought in 2008. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/...211310,00.html Thank you in advance if you know the correct answer. -A |

Yes you can!. Any state issued tax that occurs on annualized basis and is computed based on the property's value is tax deductible.
