Alternatives to Vorsteiner Carbon Fiber Hood?
Hello everyone. I'm thinking about a carbon fiber hood for my e90 335i. From my reading here I see that the Vorsteiner carbon fiber hoods seem to be at the top of the heap in terms of quality. Is there another quality hood that you guys have heard of? I want a hood that fits well, but it would be nice to have some choices in terms of price and styling. Thanks in advance.

Cal is right, Seibon and VIS offer cheaper alternatives however I can't recommend them. Vorsteiner parts are also dry carbon form production which produces a more uniform weave that will not yellow over time. Wet lay carbon is susceptible to a wavy finish and is not as resilant over time to UV exposure or daily weather abuse.
In addition, Vorsteiner parts are known for their fit and finish. They reuse factory mounts and bits such as the windshield washer units for a direct installation. My VRS hood was by far the easiest install I have done on my car, save for my Jlevi sticker. Vorsteiner is not the cheapest but for good reason, IMO it's worth it to pay for superior quality and avoid the headache. |

I've used both VIS and Seibon with my previous cars and with them it's really a hit or a miss. Some fit well and others can fit like shit. If you decide to go with a VIS or Seibon hood and it starts to yellow you can always get your hood tinted a smoked black or what not. No biggy.

Here's some pics of mine: Pretty good fitment, just like any aftermarket part, it will need some kind of adjustments.

guys I need help, I just purchased a VRS hood and it is used, the carbon fiber vents has some crack on the clear part and its kinda yellow, Is it possible for it to be repaired and reconditioned again?? I grabbed it because it was a killer deal..and I think I will also be needing that VRS sticker if i remove the old one and repair the vents. Where can I get those stickers?? thank you

You can sand down and re-clear the hood so long as the damage has not reached the carbon. We have the Vorsteiner stickers available for purchase through our website as well.

Way old bump, but for those of you who have vented hoods, what part of the engine does the water end up falling on? are the vents safe during heavy rainfall and did you guys run into any issues?
